Jose's Obituary
Jose Gasca, 94, of Decatur, Michigan, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 11AM, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 63559 60th Ave, Hartford, MI with Fr. German Perez-Diaz officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeside Cemetery in Decatur. Visitation will be Friday, February 24, 2023 from 5PM to 8PM at Newell Chapel, 83313 M-51 Decatur.
Jose was born October 13, 1928 in Rancho los Gasca, Guanajuato, Mexico to Felipe Gasca and Maria Chavez. On December 16, 1947 he married his love, Maria Gasca in Mexico. Jose was a self-taught, talented musician. He enjoyed playing many instruments, including the accordion, guitar, and harmonica. He also enjoyed singing along as he played. He loved spending time in his garden with his wife, and grilling out with his family. Family for Jose was everything; time spent together was the most important thing in his life.
Jose will be missed by his children, Asuncion “Chata” (Miguel) Rosales, Francisco (Maria) Gasca, Carmela (Luis) Mancera, Elena (Guadalupe) Hernandez, Felipe (Elena) Gasca, Juan (Elsa) Gasca, Jose Luis (Mari) Gasca, Luis (Patricia) Gasca, Arturo Gasca, Josefina (Ignacio) Cano, Cristina (Efrain) Razo, Guadalupe Rios, Ana (Jose) Mendez and Sergio Gasca; his daughter-in-law, Enriqueta Gasca; 74 grandchildren; 127 great-grandchildren; two great, great grandchildren; and his siblings, Vicente Gasca, Maria De Jesus Gasca, and Felipe Gasca.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jesus Gasca; two infant children; his grandchildren, Christina Gasca, Pablo Luis Gasca, and Jesus Rosales; his great-grandchildren, Alejandro Rosales, and Maya Mendez; seven siblings; and his parents.
