Karen's Obituary
Karen Suzanne Duncan, 69, of Edwardsburg, Mi passed away on Friday morning, March 22, 2024, at home with her family by her side after a short battle with cancer.
Karen was born on November 1st, 1954, to Janice Lamdin in Elkhart, In. When Karen was just a baby, she was adopted by her mother’s husband, Edsel Medford.
Karen graduated from Edwardsburg Highschool in 1973. After graduation, Karen married Thomas Stewart and had 2 children, Garrod and Carrie. Karen and Tom divorced in 1985. Karen devoted her life to her children and worked hard to provide for them.
In 1992, Karen met the love of her life, Donald Duncan Jr. after being set up by mutual friends on a blind date. Don and his daughter Amber became part of Karen’s family and they wed on April 28, 1997, in Goshen, In.
Karen worked many years in factories and spent her later life working in the Edwardsburg Public School’s kitchen. In 2018 Karen retired and spent her time gardening, doing projects outside and spending time with her family.
Karen was preceded in death by her mother Janice Medford, her father Edsel Medford, her father-in-law Donald Duncan Sr. and her Mother-in-law Garnet Duncan.
Karen is survived by her husband Donald Duncan Jr. of Edwardsburg, son Garrod Stewart, daughter Carrie (Chris) Weber of Edwardsburg, daughter Amber (Tony) Horton of Louisiana, Granddaughter Aubree Cavalcante, Grandson AJ Cavalcante, Grandson Kody Rodden, Grandson Dominic Cavalcante and Grandson Conner Weber.
A service to celebrate Karen’s life will be held at 5:30 PM on Tuesday, March 26, at Edwardsburg Seventh-day Adventist Church, 27718 US-12, Niles, where friends may visit with the family from 4:00 PM until the time of services. Arrangement were entrusted to Clark Chapel and Cremation Services – Starks Family Funeral Homes, 405 Center St, Dowagiac.
