Katrina's Obituary

Katrina was born on January 10, 1975 to John Wayne Prewitt and Sarah Louise Perry. She was the 4th child and only girl for Sarah. John and Sarah married on April 7, 1975 in Buchanan, Michigan.

Katrina leaves behind to cherish her memory her children; Trenton Wayne, Shania (Shaniqua) and Dia’Mond L. Annette Prewitt, mother Sarah Harvey, father John Wayne Prewitt, brother Robert Louis Perry and sister/cousin/special servant Wanda Sledge. Also survived by her aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends. Cousin Eddie Burton was her protector brother all of their lives together until the end.

She is preceded in death by her brothers Lamont Perry and Joseph Perry.

Katrina and her family moved to the Covert/South Haven area in July of 1975. After living in South Haven township for a year, the family moved to 76th St in Covert.

From an early age Katrina loved to play football and basketball with her 3 brothers. She proved to be tough as one of the boys. She went on to play basketball in Jr high and high school under the coaching of head coach Kenneth Jackson. Katrina loved school and she loved people. To Katrina no one was a stranger. She was constantly bringing people she met home to meet her family and they made them welcome. In the 1980's this little tight community was like a big happy family in which everyone Katrina called cousin. After graduation Katrina decided to work instead of going on with her education. She had many odd jobs. Some secured through a temporary service called Manpower. She worked alongside her father at the Michigan Theatre in South Haven putting in seating.

Katrina had 3 children she named Trenton Wayne, Shaniqua and Dia'Mond. In 2000 when Dia'Mond was 3 months old Katrina was stricken with Multiple Sclerosis. Katrina fought a good fight through many trials, good or bad relationships, temptations that many people tackle and many struggles. Near the end Katrina touched many lives. She drew closer to her son and daughter Shaniqua. Katrina was a funny, comical person who loved to laugh, making others laugh with her. One person recently told her mom that he was so glad to know Katrina and that she had so many loving family and friends. She will truly be missed.

A Wake for Katrina will be held on Sunday, April 12, 2026 from 11 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 12 p.m. at Filbrandt Chapel, 1076 S. Bailey Ave. South Haven, Michigan 49090. Pastor Lawrence Brooks will Officiate. Katrina will be laid to rest at Covert Cemetery.
