If you lived in the Decatur community, you more than likely knew Kirk. Kirk loved Decatur, and Decatur loved him. A creature of habit, you could often find him riding his bicycle around town. Proudly sporting his bright orange hat and go-to jeans with suspenders, he rarely missed a meal at Hard Times, or his mornings hanging at the library in “his spot”. In his younger years, Kirk enjoyed fishing, and often shared what he knew with those who wanted to join him. Although he might have been stubborn at times, Kirk will be remembered fondly for his kindness and compassion.

Kirk is survived by his son, Charles Chenault; his grandson, Brendan Green-Chenault; his brother, Charles “Chuck” (the late Joan) Chamness; and many other dear extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his siblings, Paul, Joe, and Judy; and his parents.
