Lee's Obituary
Lee R. Lyon, 81, of Buchanan, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at Spectrum Health Lakeland, Niles.
Visitation will be held from 7:00-9:00 pm on Monday, May 2, 2022, at First Presbyterian Church, 13 S. 4th St., Niles. A celebration of life service will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at First Presbyterian Church, 13 S. 4th St., Niles. Private family burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery with full military honors rendered by the Buchanan American Legion and the United States Navy. Lee was born on July 23, 1940, to Theodore and Donna (Folkman) Lyon in Niles. He graduated from Buchanan High School in 1958 and later went on to receive his Masters Degree from Michigan State University. Lee honorably served in the United States Navy. On November 29, 1969, he married Patricia Brown. They shared 45 years together before her passing on March 28, 2015. Lee was very active in the Niles First Presbyterian Church as a lifetime member and loved volunteering there. He was also involved in DeColores Ministries and Bible studies. Over the years he served various roles, including elder, deacon and chairman of the building and grounds. Lee worked as a Speech Therapist for the Niles Community School for 32 or more years. He also enjoyed volunteering at the Tin Shop Theatre in Buchanan, working in the yard, and going on walks, especially with his grandpuppy, Charlie. He was dearly loved by many.
Lee is survived by his son, Scott (Mandy) Lyon of Hudsonville, MI; daughter, Melissa “Missy” Lyon of Buchanan; grandchildren, Emmaleigh Lyon and Keegan Lyon; sister, Luanne (Bruce) Baker of Greer, SC; brother, Geoff (Dee) Lyon of Hilton Head, SC and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patricia Lyon and grandson, Connor Lyon.
