Leonard Allen “Larry” March, 71, of Buchanan, passed away on Friday, September 29, 2023, at home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Friday, October 6, 2023, at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Parish, 219 S. State St., Niles. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Buchanan with full military honors provided by the Buchanan American Legion, Post 51 and the United States Air Force. Visitation will take place from 5-8 pm on Thursday, October 5, at Swem Chapel, 301 W. Front St., Buchanan with a Rosary Service starting at 7:30 pm.

Larry was born on March 17, 1952, in South Bend, to Chester D. and Wanda M. (Wood) March. He graduated from Buchanan High School, class of 1970. Subsequently, he served honorably in the United States Air Force as a Minuteman Missile Technician from 1972 to 1976. Following his military service he attended Indiana University, earning a BS in Business. Throughout his career, Larry worked as a Purchasing Agent for institutions such as Notre Dame, Memorial Hospital, and at Macy’s in the Menswear department. He had been a dedicated and active member at St. Anthonys Catholic Church in Buchanan, fulfilling various roles such as serving as a Eucharistic Minister, an usher, and participating in multiple committees. Larry exhibited remarkable handiness and could truly fix anything. He often utilized his skills in carpentry, plumbing and building electronics to name a few.

Larry is survived by his sisters, Sharon Cloutier of Niles and Janice (Dennis) Carpenter of Mishawaka; brother, Richard (Mary) March of Buchanan; nieces & nephews, Lori, Dan, Matthew and Noelle. He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Wanda March and brother-in-law, Thomas Cloutier.
