Lou Ann was born January 1, 1943 at Mercy Hospital in Benton Harbor to Arnold & Madeline Schlender. She was extremely premature, weighed only 1.5 pounds and was not expected to make it. But she beat the odds and made it to nearly 83 years old. She later served as a Candy Striper at Mercy Hospital while attending Benton Harbor High School where she graduated Class of 1961, from Benton Harbor Community College with an Associate Degree, and attended Western Michigan University. On August 15, 1964, she married Larry Krieger in St. Joseph at Trinity Lutheran Church. Lou Ann was employed in quality control at Heath-Zenith in St. Joseph until they closed and then retired from Midwest Timer in Hagar Shores in 2009.

Lou Ann was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and volunteered at Woodland Terrace Assisted Living in Coloma. In her free time, she enjoyed quilting and especially crocheting. She was very generous with her time and talent and made many afghans & wall hangings for her many friends & family. Lou Ann also volunteered her time making lap blankets and cookies for hospice until 2020. She loved to travel, take road trips, and was great at directions before GPS. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
