Marilyn's Obituary

Marilyn Jean Eldred, born May 28th 1935, passed away peacefully at Rose Arbor Hospice Center on November 23, 2023 at the age of 88.

Marilyn married Ronald Emmett Eldred on June 3, 1955. She soon had three daughters; Renee Jeannine, Rhonda Sue, and Sandra Lynette.

Marilyn had a love for line dancing. She would often be seen dancing in parades all around southwest Michigan. Marilyn also taught line dancing at the South Haven Senior Center for many years, and had friends everywhere she would go. To say she was loved by so many would be an understatement.

Marilyn grew up in South Haven with a large family of eleven siblings. The road they lived on was referred to as “Brinks Road”, because the whole Brinks clan had established their homes there. Every Sunday for many years the generations of family would gather at each other's homes for “coffee time”, where they would share stories over coffee and desserts.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Eldred. She leaves behind her three daughters; Renee (Scott) Shelton, Rhonda Dawley, Sandy (Awn) Resler. As well as five grandchildren; Elise (Fred) Uytioco, Julaine (Nick) Denny, Nick (Laura) Shelton, Rachel (Trevor) Umbra-Smith, and Jordan Umbra. Twelve great grandchildren; Makayla, Mason, Lorelei, Stella, Evelyn, MaeLeigh, Liam, Henley, Harlan, Gideon, Helen, and Lily. Numerous nieces and nephews, including a niece Audrey (Leroy) Frabe, and great niece Jayme (Carl) Hinz who cared for Marilyn deeply.

Also left behind is her dog Ginny/Jenny, who is being loved and cared for by a long time family friend Katrina.

All of her friends and neighbors at Maxwell Place will miss her, especially her friend Connie who was always there for her.

Marilyn requested that no funeral or services be held. Instead we ask all those who knew and loved her to enjoy a cup of coffee every Sunday and tell a story or two about her during “coffee time” with your family.
