Marilyn's Obituary
Marilyn Ann Sundman, age 87, passed away on October 7, 2024. She was born on October 28, 1936, to Eugene and Bessy (Gardener) Gillem in Benton Harbor, Michigan. On August 12, 1953, she married Harry David Sundman, and they spent 65 years together until his passing in May of 2018.
A funeral service for Marilyn will take place on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at 3:00 pm at the Starks and Menchinger Chapel (2650 Niles Rd.) with visitation taking place one hour prior to the service. Marilyn loved her family. She was proud of all her grandchildren and great grandchildren and would tell everyone about their accomplishments, no matter how big or how little. She had an outgoing personality and would engage everyone, including random strangers, in conversation as if she knew them for years. She loved going to the casino and was excited to tell everyone about her winnings. The invention of Facebook was not loved by anyone as much as Marilyn. She called it “The Facebook”. It allowed her to keep in touch with friends from the past and meet new people. Marilyn had a great passion for baking. Her family will always warmly remember her baking for family dinners and get togethers.
Marilyn is survived by her children, Sue (Keith) Schuemann, Sharon (John) Hammons, Michael (Beth) Sundman, Joel Sundman; ten grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; and brother, Lowell (Kathleen) Gillem. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harry Sundman; daughter, Peggy Davis; son, David Sundman.
