Mark's Obituary
Mark Allen Flowers, 65, of Decatur, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Sunday, November 19, 2023 at his home in Decatur. He was born May 7, 1958 in Paw Paw, MI to Burdell and Kathryn (Cook) Flowers.
The family will receive guests from 12pm until time of celebration of life service at 1pm, at the Decatur-Hamilton Fire Department, 420 W. Delaware St., Decatur. Committal to follow at Hamilton Township Cemetery, Decatur. Memorial contributions may be given to the Decatur/Hamilton Fire Department. Mark began his career at National Motors before moving to Bendix/Bosch, where he continued working for the next 22 years as a gate grinder for brake calipers until his retirement in 2002. He met the love of his life, Drewetta Smith in high school and they were united in marriage on October 23, 1976 in Hartford, MI. Mark was not shy when it came to hard work. He enjoyed keeping busy, and loved to make anything and everything out of wood. His memory will remain throughout the house in all the many items he hand-crafted with love. He also took pride in keeping his yard well groomed, whether it was on his mower, blowing leaves, or planting tulips. He also spent his time proudly serving on the Fire Board in Decatur for several years. But his most favorite thing to do was spend quality time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Mark will be dearly missed by his family; his wife of 47 years, Drewetta Flowers; his children, Andrew (Tiffany) Flowers, Jamie (Randy) Haun, and Mark (Nychole) Flowers, II; his grandchildren, Austin (Alexis) Mead, Owen Flowers, Nolyn Flowers, Talan Flowers, Chloe Haun, Rilyn Flowers, Kalyn Manley, and Urijah Flowers; his great grandson, Hudson Mead; and his sister, Charlene Smith.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Michael Flowers; his brother-in-law, Drew Smith; and his parents, Burdell and Kathryn Flowers.
