Marva's Obituary
Marva J. Miles, 81, of Decatur, passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at White Oak Assisted Living. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, February 16 at 2 PM at Volinia Baptist Church, 19526 Marcellus Hwy, Decatur, with Pastor Shinabery officiating. Burial will follow at Harrison Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family an hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Volinia Baptist Church. Marva was born on December 17, 1941, in Decatur, to Frank & Katherine (White) Owen. She graduated from Decatur High School. On September 10, 1961, Marva married the love of her life, Clarence “Joe” Miles at the First Presbyterian Church of Decatur. Marva enjoyed being outside, getting coffee or eating out with her friends, and collecting Christmas trees. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also a proud member of Volinia Baptist Church.
Marva is survived by her children, Alvin (Rebecca) Miles, Brett (Carol) Miles, Jodie (Patrick) Sydlik, and Heather (Sam) Smith; grandchildren, Lindsey, Amanda, Alvin, Nathan, Patrick, Troy, Morgan, Kyla; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank & Katherine and husband, Joe.
