Mary Jane graduated from South Haven High School. She met the love of her life Allen Remley in Petoskey Michigan. They married and together raised three daughters and adopted another. She worked at South Haven Coil, then went on to the South Haven Police Department as a Dispatcher for 5 years and Auxiliary Drug Enforcement Officer for another 5 years. When asked what her most rewarding career was, she would tell you it was that of Foster Parent which both her and Allen did for 12 years. After leaving the Police Department she went to work at Palisades from 1982 -2012 as a Security Officer. Mary Jane’s final job was at the Laundromat where she retired from in 2020.
Mary Jane has been described as loving, caring, funny a people person, who never met a stranger. Everyone wanted to know Mary Jane. You could never pull a fast one on her. She was sly like a fox and could read the room, she knew what you were up to before you did. She was also feisty with a little bit of a temper thrown in, she wanted to be in the know and the center of attention. Mary Jane was a caregiver with a big heart always looking out for others.
