Mary's Obituary
Born on February 5, 1944, in Amory, Mississippi, Mary was a woman of unwavering faith, deep love, and steadfast devotion to her family. She spent her early years in Mississippi before relocating to Chicago and eventually establishing her forever home in Kissimmee, Florida, where she raised her five children and lived a life filled with kindness, joy, and service to others.
Mary is survived by her beloved children: Preston Kunda (Arlene Kunda), Michael Kunda (Rhonda Kunda), Cynthia Deitemeyer (Eric Deitemeyer), Jennifer Neumann (Terry Neumann), and MaryAllison Kunda. She was the cherished grandmother of Brittney Kunda, Marissa Kunda, Halley Kunda, Alex Kunda, Paige Neumann, Timothy Kunda, Caleb Kunda, and ChrisGregorio; and the proud great-grandmother of Hope Neumann. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Miranda Kunda, who surely welcomed her with open arms in heaven.
Mary was also preceded in death by her parents, Mary Elizabeth Adams and Jim Dee Thompson, as well as all of her siblings: Jimmy Thompson, Dorothy Thompson, Nellie Vernon, Brenda Poss, and Willie Poss. Their reunion now brings comfort to those she leaves behind.
Mary started her working life as a Registered Nurse before staying home to take care of her growing family. She went back to work and spent many years working at CVS, where her warm heart and generous spirit touched countless lives. She also worked in hospitality at Old Town in Kissimmee, and throughout her life, she held many roles-each one met with dedication and a strong work ethic. Her career reflected her selflessness and desire to serve others.
She was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Kissimmee, where her faith in the Lord was the cornerstone of her life. Her greatest passion was worshiping God, and her spiritual strength was a guiding light to all who knew her. More than anything, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, filling their lives with wisdom, laughter, and unconditional love. She was their biggest supporter-cheering them on at every game, performance, club, or school event, always proud to be their #1 fan.
A memorial service for Mary will take place on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at Berrien County Baptist Church (5940 St. Joseph Ave, Stevensville, MI 49127) at 4:00 pm, with visitation with her family taking place one hour prior to the service at church. Mary will be laid to rest in Florida. Arrangements in Michigan entrusted to the Starks and Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd.
