Mary's Obituary
With deep love and sorrow, we announce the passing of Mary Lyons Carlson, 72, beloved mother and friend, who left us peacefully on Thursday, November 27, 2025.
Born on January 5th, 1953, Mary approached life with exceptional kindness and a warm heart, bringing beauty and light to everyone around her. An educator by trade and heart, she touched countless lives through her patience, compassion and insight.
In her later years, Mary faced dementia with quiet courage and grace. Though the illness changed parts of her journey, it never diminished the love she gave—or the love she received. Her family will forever remember the essence of who she was: gentle, thoughtful, and endlessly caring.
Above all, Mary adored her family. She treasured time with her children and grandchildren, found joy in her artwork, and loved the companionship of her dogs. These simple, meaningful moments were the heart of her life.
She is survived by her daughter Kate (Joshua) and son Zach (Erika); grandchildren Natalie, Lillian, Ethan, Ava; and siblings Joseph, Timothy, Robert and Jennifer.
She is preceded in death by her mother Nancy, father Robert and sister Melanie.
A Visitation will be held on Friday December 5th from 5-7pm at Filbrandt Chapel, 1076 S. Bailey Ave, South Haven, Michigan.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to Al-Van Humane Society or the Alzheimer’s Association in her honor.
Mary’s love, creativity, humor, and gentle spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
