Mike's Obituary
Mr. Michael Douglas Miskill, age 71, passed away on Friday, November 7, 2025 in St. Joseph, MI.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 12 at 1:00 pm at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI, 49085. Visitation will be prior to the service, from 12:30 – 1:00 pm. Burial at Riverview Cemetery.
Mike was born on July 10, 1954 to Robert and Joyce (Helm) Miskill in Benton Harbor. He received his bachelor’s degree from Purdue University and worked in procurement for Shepard Hardware Products. On October 15, 1993, Mike married Debra Ziemke and the two celebrated 30 years of marriage until Debby’s passing on June 18, 2024.
Mike enjoyed spending his time being in nature, birdwatching and tending to his garden. He canned pickles every year and made strawberry jam for his friends and family to enjoy. Mike was a fantastic cook and was known for finding the largest turkey he could for Thanksgiving. He was an avid coin collector, liked watching court dramas, and playing scratch offs. Where Mike was, his beloved dog, Abby, was probably nearby. Mike’s job allowed him to travel several times to Asia, which he was able to experience with his son and Debby a couple times. Mike loved doting on his grandkids and often made goodie bags for them.
Mike is survived by his children, Trina (Brian) Lawrence, Matthew (Ashleigh) Gilbert; and Robert Miskill; grandchildren, Hailey, Hayden, and Ella Lawrence and Walker, Camryn, and Witten Gilbert; and brother, Jeff Miskill (Carrie Dahms) and family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Debby, and parents, Robert and Joyce Miskill.
