Mildred Archer, 96, of Berrien Springs, MI passed away Sunday, November 14, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loved ones.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, November 19, 2021 at Heritage Chapel, 8747 US 31 Berrien Springs with Pastor Nathan Bloomfield officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Berrien Springs. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Thursday, November 18, 2021 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to The Blue Roof Church in St. Joseph or Caring Circle Hospice. Those wishing to share a memory of Mildred online may do so at www.heritage-chapel.com
Mildred was born September 3, 1925 in Enola, Arkansas to Rufus & Bessie (Phillips) Casey. On December 6, 1941 she married Arthur Archer in Lake City Arkansas. Mildred was a homemaker who kept a busy schedule caring for her family. She loved playing poker with her family especially her grandchildren. They teased that grandma gave them money for Christmas and won it back from them in the afternoon. She was also famous for her cooking especially her biscuits with chocolate gravy, banana cream pie and fried peach pies.
Mildred is survived by her children Byrum “B.D.” (Judy) Archer, Brenda Wells Clarke (Alan), Shelia (Richard) Hoyh and Carlton (Robin) Archer; 5 grandchildren Rhonda (Jason) Whitt, David (Vicki) Archer, Jeffrey (Stephanie) Hoyh, Jason (Angela) Hoyh and Katie Archer; 14 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; siblings Russell Casey, Hazel Fairchild, Norma Jane Varner, Randell Casey and Jewell Quisnel; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 grandchildren Jonathan Archer and Richard Wells and 7 siblings.
