Nancy A.'s Obituary

Nancy A. Shumaker, 75, of South Haven, passed away June 26, 2024, at Hanson Hospice Center, Stevensville, Michigan.
She was born December 4, 1948, in Sparta, Illinois to George and Nora (La Rowe) Bennett.

Nancy met her husband, Albert W. Shumaker, who was serving as a member of the Army National Guard during the Detroit
Riots. They were married on November 4, 1967, and were blessed with 53 years of marriage before his passing in 2020.

After receiving her education at Lake Michigan College, Nancy worked as a License Practical Nurse, serving in the Labor &
Delivery Department of South Haven Community Hospital and as a private duty nurse. As a Labor & Delivery nurse, Nancy
had a special place in her heart for all babies, when asked what she thought Heaven would be like, she saw herself working
as a caretaker who would love on & watch over all of the babies that hadn’t been born yet and those that were not able to
stay here on earth. We can’t think of a better person for the job.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Bangor.

Nancy is survived by her children Kim (Steve) Hallmark of Grand Junction, Jenny (Stuart) Price of South Haven, and Tony
(Michelle) Shumaker of Paw Paw; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, George Bennett and Nora Fitzpatrick; twin sister, Elza G. (Michael) Wolski; son,
Willie Shumaker; and grandson Andrew Hallmark.

Graveside Services for Nancy will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Lake View Cemetery in South Haven.
Chaplain Laurie Timmer will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 115 E Monroe St.,
Bangor, MI 49013 or Caring Circle Hospice, 4024 Health Park Lane Street, St. Joseph, Michigan 49085. In lieu of flowers the
family asks that you consider planting a tree in Nancy’s memory.
