Nancy's Obituary

Nancy S. (Krugh) Cooley, 83, of St. Joseph, passed away, Friday, November 18, 2022 at Stately Living, Assisted Senior Living Home, in St. Joseph.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 2:00 until 4:00 P.M. Saturday, November 26, 2022 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Private burial will take place at a later date at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Memorial donations in Nancy’s name may be made to the Lakeshore Lions Club or Caring Circle Hospice. Nancy was born May 14, 1939 in St. Joseph to Joseph & Gladys (Rickers) Roloff. She graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School, Class of 1957. Soon after high school, Nancy was employed at Whirlpool Corporation. On October 8, 1960, Nancy married Charles Krugh, and together, they had 4 daughters. Charles passed away on November 8, 1981. Nancy met Robert Cooley and on June 14, 1986, they were married in St. Joseph. Nancy returned to school to earn her Bachelor of Science Degree from Central Michigan University. After twenty-five plus years of service, she retired from Whirlpool Corporation.

Nancy and Robert enjoyed collecting Dept. 56 Houses & Santas. They decorated their house every Christmas season and opened their home to the public to collect toys for Toys for Tots. She was an active member of the Lakeshore Lions Club and volunteered at Lakeland Hospitals. She volunteered at the hospital gift shop, library, coffee shop and the cancer center. She served as the president of the volunteers for a period of time. Nancy enjoyed dancing, bowling, weekly Mahjongg games, and playing cards with her family and friends. She was an avid golfer and she tried to get out and play as much as she could.

Nancy is survived by her husband Robert; her children-Cindy (Rob) Sturgeon of Benton Harbor, Joan (David) McCaslin of St. Joseph, Patti (James) Hanko of Boise, ID, Brenda (Bob) Scheitlin of St. Joseph, Jeff (Lynette) Cooley of Osceola, IN, Steve (Heather) Cooley of Floyds Knob, IN; seven grandchildren-Melissa Holland, Jessica (Carter Scoggin) McCaslin, Hannah (Andrew Rice) Hanko, Breanna Hanko, McKenzie, Bentley, Kenna Cooley; two great-grandchildren-Ashlin Holland, Greyson Scoggin; four sisters-in-law-Shirley Roloff, Eva Uhrik, Marilee Roloff, Sandra Krugh; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her first husband Charles, she was preceded in death by her parents, siblings-Robert Roloff, William Roloff, Lenore "Muzz" Shafer and Joanne Pomeroy.
