Phillip's Obituary

Phillip Copeland, 70 of Grand Junction passed away at his home in Grand Junction on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 surrounded by family. Born on December 9, 1954 in South Haven, to William and Ethel Copeland. United in marriage on February 23, 1988 to Karen Elaine Stickney.

Phillip is survived by his loving wife of 37 years Karen and children; Theresa Reed, Mary (Jacob) Taylor, Marvin (Keisha) Copeland, 8 grandchildren. Also survived by siblings; William Copeland Jr., Ricky (Teresa) Copeland and a very close nephew Jeremiah Copeland.

Preceded in death by his parents and sister Sharon Copeland.

Phillip proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. After leaving the army he met his future wife Karen while waiting in a doctors office. They eventually married in 1988 and together raised 3 children. Phillip was a hard worker, he worked most of his life for Sherman Dairy, as a maintenance man, fixing machinery and making ice cream. He was a Ford man, who drove a Chevy truck but loved Ford cars, especially his Ford Fairlane. In the 90’s Phillip survived a massive heart attack and then in 2003 he beat bile duct (liver) cancer, the nurses at Bronson called him the Bionic Man. In his spare time, he loved fishing, especially with his wife Karen or his son Marvin. One of his favorite things to do besides sitting on the back deck with Karen drinking a beer and playing dominos was spending time with his family. Just being with his family meant the most to him. Phillip was a good man; a kind man and he will be missed by all who knew him.

Cremation has taken place, and the family will honor Phillip at a later date.
