Quentin's Obituary

Quentin Eugene Lowe (better known as Quennie) passed on to his heavenly home on Christmas morning December 25, 2023 at his home on Maudlin Road in New Buffalo, Michigan at the age of 84. His wife Linda and daughters Kimberly and Kelly were at his side. He was born to George Henry and Helen Marie (Froberg) Lowe on Dec 17th 1939 at their home on Basswood Rd in Three Oaks MI. He attended three Oaks school. He worked throughout his school years doing grain farming. At the age of 16 he bought his first car, a 1947 Ford, and went over to ask Linda Lipscomb for a date and from that time on they were together, dating through high school years and getting married on June 27, 1959 at St. John’s Church in New Buffalo, MI. After a big wedding and reception with all the family, friends and neighbors, they moved into their farm home on Maudlin Road on their wedding night and it was their home for the next 64 1/2 years. In November 1960 he hired on the railroad in New Buffalo, working as a switchman, brakeman and conductor for many years. He was a lifetime member of the Grand Lodge Free and Accepted Masons of Michigan Lodge number 239 and a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star number 332. Also, a member of the UTU. He had been a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Grand Rapids, Saint John’s UCC New Buffalo, Three Oaks Free Methodist Church, Moose Lodge 980 and the Dank number 13 in Benton Harbor Michigan. He enjoyed attending dances at the Saint Joe Kickers Club, loved playing cards, listening to country music, spending time on his computer and watching TV. He loved his tractors and being outdoors. He enjoyed attending the monthly Rosebud group dinners at the casino with the lovely group of ladies. He loved hummingbirds and awaited their arrival each spring and kept many feeders full every day. In 2004 the couple took an exchange student from South Korea who became like a daughter and remained with them for several years. He was a great man of humor, always full of jokes, stories, and one liners. Everyone loved him for his jolly personality. Always full of life and laughter no matter how bad he felt. He couldn’t have asked for better daughters, they stayed right by his side for the last six weeks, caring for their beloved dad, the best father ever according to them. Quentin loved his family dearly and loved being at home.

He is survived by his wife Linda Lee Lipscomb Lowe, his two daughters Kimberly Dawn (Dean) Edmiston of Bridgman MI, daughter Kelly Denise Lowe-Griffith of Tallahassee FL, and honorary daughter Dr. Da-Eun Kim of Seoul, South Korea. He is also survived by his two granddaughters Kelly Dawn Smith of Paragould AR and Kimberly Denise Griffith of Tallahassee FL. A niece Melanie (Lowe) Yasko and nephew Denton Lowe both of New Buffalo. Two sisters in laws Bonnie (Robert) Kliss of New Buffalo and Dr. Susan (Susy) Vergot of Chattanooga TN, A niece and God child Becky Kliss of Benton Harbor And a nephew Jeff Kliss of Stevensville MI. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Helen (Froberg) Lowe, three brothers Ellsworth, and Irving, and Gerald, niece Gael Lowe, and son-in-law Thomas Griffith.
