Mr. R. Michael Gaishin, age 78, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, March 30, 2024.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, April 6 at 10:00AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 220 Church St., St. Joseph, MI 49085. Visitation will be held Friday, April 5 from 4:00 – 6:00PM at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI 49085 with the Rosary being prayed at 6:00PM. Memorial contributions in Mike’s memory may be directed to Caring Circle of Corewell Health or Birthright.
Michael “Mike” was born on August 17, 1945 to Rudy and Flora (Roselli) Gaishin in Trenton, MI. He married the love of his life, Sally Mead, on December 23, 1967 in Niles, MI and the two spent 56 wonderful years together. Mike was a very gifted engineer and started his own manufacturing company, Gaishin Manufacturing in 1989. He grew the family business across Southwest Michigan and remained active until his passing. Mike enjoyed flying RC airplanes and was an accomplished bowler when he was younger. He was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where he was involved in many different groups.
Mike is survived by his wife, Sally; children, Rudy (Tami) Gaishin, Andrew (Kirsten) Gaishin, and Jeff (Casey) Gaishin; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; siblings, Gloria Holt, Diane (Gary) Reichenbach, Pat Gaishin, June Gaishin, and JoAnn Gaishin; and brothers and sister-in-law, Tom Mead, Jane Acomb, and Richard (Rosemary) Mead.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudy and Flora; grandson, Gabriel Gaishin; and brother, Anthony Gaishin.
