Randy's Obituary

Randy passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Sunday, June 8th, 2025 at the age of 71.

Married to the love of his life for 49 wonderful years, he and his wife, Toni, built a life grounded in love and laughter. Together they raised four children - Kam (Steve) Daugherty, Weston (Sarah) Grieves, Mandy (Alberto) Delgado and Lynsey (Zach) Dickerson - who carry forward his values focused on family, loyalty and community. His legacy also lives on through his nine grandchildren - Avery, Myles, Sydney and Lauryn Daugherty / Jackson, Sofia and Vincent Grieves / Oscar and June Delgado - all of whom adored their papa’s wisdom, wit, full belly laughs and warm hugs.

Son of Ken and June (Hatch) Grieves and brother to loving sister, Valerie (Craig) Zappa, Randy was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and innovator. He lived a life filled with curiosity, compassion, kindness and quiet determination that left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. As his daughter, Amanda, recently said, “he was the very best of all of us”.

An inventor at heart, Randy held multiple patents and was admired by his peers not just for his creativity but for his commitment to seeing things through from beginning to end. Randy was an inventor, engineer, salesman, and, whenever necessary, the repairman. His work ethic and resourcefulness inspired all around him, most especially, his children.

More than his career achievements, he will be remembered for his unwavering integrity, deep love for his family, the joy he found in the beach and in music and for his ability to make all around him feel seen, loved and important. He taught us all that a life well-lived isn’t just about success - it is about love, laughter and togetherness.

He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered and forever celebrated.

In lieu of flowers during this difficult time, donations are welcome to help support the family with final expenses and in honor of the compassionate care provided by Wings of Hope Hospice. A donation box will be available at the luncheon for those who wish to give in person. Online contributions may be made via Venmo here: @Haven-Sent.

Your kindness, support and remembrance mean more than words can express.
