Ray's Obituary
Ray Richard Hinchman, 86 years, passed away on June 4, 2024 at the Royalton Manor Nursing Home in St. Joseph, Michigan. Ray was born on August 20, 1937 to Raymond and Blanch (Koska) Hinchman in Berwyn, Illinois. He had two brothers, Walter (deceased) and Robert, and a sister, Mary Jane (David) Husko. Ray married Carline Schwegler on June 15, 1963 and had a daughter, Carrie (Steve) Swerbenski, and a son, Timothy (Lisa) Hinchman. He also had five grandchildren, Hannah and Katherine Swerbenski and Carl, Mikey, and Samantha Hinchman. Ray earned a BS in Biology from the University of Illinois, a Masters in Marine Botany from the University of Washington, and a PhD in Botany from the University of Chicago. He worked at Argonne National Laboratory in the Botany Department for 30 years. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
