Richard's Obituary
Richard Lee Zabel, 92, of Three Oaks Passed away October 5, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family.
Richard was born on June 3rd, 1931 in LaPorte, IN to George and Bernice (Condon) Zabel.
On November 17th, 1951 he married Elsie Horak in Three Oaks Mich, who preceded him in death.
Richard was a 60+ year member of Three Oaks American Legion Post 204, and was a veteran serving in the United States
Army from 1951-1953. He was active in the community and loved talking with different people. Richard was an avid
card player and loved taking care of family and keeping them close. After retiring from auto service, he mowed lawns and
shoveled snow and kept the sidewalks clean as a whistle for The Bank of Three Oaks. He loved yard work.
Richard leaves behind his daughters Roxann (Jim) McGuigan of Three Oaks, and Rhonda Giggy of LaPorte Ind.
His five grandsons Ryan Ehlert, Nathan (Erin) Ehlert, Christopher (Wendy) Blackwell, David (Grace) Blackwell and
Zachery (Christina) Blackwell. 11 great grandchildren with one arriving soon. Brothers Chuck (RuthAnn) Zabel,
Don (Mindy) Zabel and sister-in-law Doris Zabel.
Richard was proceeded in death by son-in-law Wayne Giggy. Sister Dorothy Rosenbaum. Brothers Junior,
Tom, Robert, James and 1/2 brother Jerry Hancock.
Arrangements have been taken care of by Purely Cremations Starks Funeral Services.
