Sebastian's Obituary

Sebastian Lee Cain, 18, of Dowagiac, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2024, at home in Dowagiac with his family at his side.

A celebration of life service will be held at 4 pm on Friday, January 12, 2024, at Clark Chapel, 405 Center St., Dowagiac. Visitation will take place two hours prior, from 2-4 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Those wishing to send a condolence online may do so at www.clarkch.com.

Sebastian was born on March 9, 2005, to Robert and Jacquelin Cain in Niles. He attended Dowagiac Schools and Northside Schools, earning his High School Diploma. Sebastian enjoyed reading educational books and having fun and interesting facts to share. He like music, dinosaurs, food and especially loved video games, Minecraft, superheroes and the Cubs.

Despite his young age, Sebastian had remarkable wisdom, maintaining a consistently positive mindset and outlook. His optimistic attitude and words of encouragement, such as “everything is going to be ok,” could bring you peace. Sebastian had a special laugh and always wore a bright smile. He cherished his family, and especially treasured time spent with his nieces and nephews.

Sebastian is survived by his mother, Jacquelin (David Smith) Cain; sister, Samantha (Michael De Rose) Cain and their children, Anakin, Spencer and Scarlett De Rose; sister, Grace (Mohammed Idrissi Yahyaoui) Cain and their children, Yusra and Ruqaiya Idrissi Yahyaoui; paternal grandfather, Lawrence Cain; grandmother, Virginia Cain; aunt, Kelly (Ray) Huff; cousins, Ethan and Isaac Da Silva and best friend, Jason Welch. Sebestian is now reunited with his father, Robert Cain.
