Sharon's Obituary
Sharon L. Heron, 81, a lifelong resident of Dowagiac, passed away early Saturday morning, December 29, 2023, at her home. She was born on June 2, 1942, in Dowagiac. On June 20, 1969, she was united in marriage to James R. Heron.
Surviving are six children – Terry (Nancy) Wheeler of Dowagiac, Michelle (Gary) Yoder of Elkhart, IN, Joseph Wheeler of Dowagiac, Sherrie (Richard) Craft of Dowagiac, Amy (John) Juroff of Cassopolis, and Pennie (Shawn) Hammond of Dowagiac; step-children – Ann Velthouse, James (Jessi) Heron and Donna Ridenour; brother – Lonnie (Carole) Lillie; sister – Jonelle Kanouse; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband of 36 years – James Heron; parents – Warren Lillie and Katherine (Cummings) Elliott; four brothers – Jack, Joseph, Richard and David Lillie; two sisters – Connie Lillie and Frances Weaver; and granddaughter – Alyson Marie Wheeler.
Honoring Sharon’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no public visitation or services. Private family inurnment will be in South Wayne Cemetery, Dowagiac at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Sharon’s name may be directed to Disabled American Veterans (www.dav.org). Arrangements have been entrusted to Clark Chapel and Cremation Services – Starks Family Funeral Homes, 405 Center St, Dowagiac.
