Shirley was born December 7, 1935 in Loretta, Tennessee to Sterling & Lois (Smith) Scott. She was fortunate to have two loves in her lifetime. She married Edison at the age of 17 and was blessed with three children. After becoming a widow at the age of 30, she met and married Bill and moved her family to Michigan to begin her new life. Shirley and Bill were blessed with Glen and Gina which made their family complete. She worked for many years at Heath Company and Ausco. After retirement she enjoyed spending time with her family and enjoyed being “Grandma Sushi” to her 11 grandchildren. She enjoyed making quilts for her children and grandchildren and we will treasure those gifts of her handiwork. She was a friend to all, loved to laugh and tell stories, and most of all loved to tell everyone about Jesus. She has made her home at Caretel for the last 4 1/2 years and always expressed her love to her caregivers. She will be missed tremendously but we rejoice in knowing she has a new home in Heaven with her Lord and many loved ones gone before her. We can only imagine the Joy she felt when she reached those pearly gates. Heaven is now just a little bit sweeter!

Shirley is survived by her children-Rosemary (Riley) Raines of St. Joseph, Jim (Jenna) Everett of Benton Harbor, Vivian (Dennis) Padgett of Siloam Springs, AR, Glen (Dawn) Pounders of Sugarland, TX, Gina Maskal of Grand Rapids, MI; eleven grandchildren-Becky Raines & husband Scott Centilli of Portage, MI, Ryan (Kate) Everett of Boise, ID, Austin Everett of Pittsburgh, PA, Lane Everett of St. Joseph, Nic Padgett of Phoenix, AZ, Mitch (Amanda) Padgett of Cave Springs, AR, Colton, Brendan & Emma Pounders of Sugarland, TX, Isaiah Maskal of Ames, IA, Mekai Maskal of Grand Rapids, MI; five great-grandchildren-Dylan & Maxwell Raines, Parker, Nash & Finley Padgett; and numerous nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, ten siblings, and her spouse William Pounders.
