Tom's Obituary
A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 4:00 P.M. at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, St. Joseph, with Pastor Corey Kugle, from The Chapel, in St. Jospeh, officiating. The family will be receiving friends and family at 3:00 P.M.. Memorial contributions in Tom’s name can be made to The Chapel. Tom was born May 3, 1952, in Traverse City, MI, to Okle and Mary (Bankman) Reams. Following high school he continued his education and worked in multiple industries including, as a die caster for Paramount Tool and Die Company and Castmatic. After retiring from Airway Oxygen, Tom continued working for several years afterwards for various business, the most recent being Levalley Chevrolet, as he loved being productive and socializing.
Tom married the love of his life, Joy (Tio) Hosford, on May 1, 2004. They loved raising their children together, and eventually, grandchildren. Tom was a motorcycle enthusiast for over 50 years and riding his Harley Davidson was his favorite hobby. He and Joy put together benefit rides both organizing and raising funds. Tom was also a classic car and muscle car aficionado, owning several over the years and taking meticulous care of them, as he did everyone and everything, in his life. He was a devoted Christian and member of Bright Star Tabernacle in Eau Claire, for over 30 years, and currently a member of The Chapel in St. Joseph. Tom also found fulfillment as a member of Moose Lodge 1570 of Benton Harbor and the Abate Motorcycle Club.
Tom is survived by his wife – Joy Reams; children – Joshua (Ashley) Hosford, Lisa Hosford, and James (Brandy) Hemminger; grandchildren – Ethan Hosford, Elijah Hosford, Jenna Milliken, Isabella Hosford, Dylan Hosford, Curtis Hemminger, Amber Hemminger, Johnny Hemminger, Megan Hemminger, Kayla Cartwright, Kyle Cartwright, Donald Michael (Kayla) Nordmyer; several great – grandchildren; brother Melvin Reams; nieces – Debra (Jody) Phillips, Kimberly (Chris) Hardin, Trina (Bill) Bollingbacher; and multiple great – nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by grandsons – James Thomas Hemminger Jr. and Matthew Baney, parents – Okle and Mary Reams and sister – Cleo Shelton.
