Tom's Obituary

Thomas W. “Tom” Siewert, 84, of Coloma, passed away at his home on Saturday, January 4, 2025. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on April 26, 2025. More information will be available closer to the event. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607 Those wishing to leave an online condolence may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.

Tom was born on April 26, 1940, in St. Joseph, to Clarence & Florine (Anderson) Siewert. A 1958 St. Joseph High School Graduate, Tom excelled as a track and football athlete. Professionally, Tom served the City of St. Joseph as a fireman for 26 years, before retiring in 1990. Following his retirement, Tom started a limousine service. It was with this service he would drive local children in the area to Shriner’s Children Hospital in Chicago for them to receive their treatments. Tom was a proud member of the St. Joe - Benton Harbor Elks Lodge 541, Berrien County Shriners Minibike Club and Lake Shore Lodge #298 F & AM where he was a past Master & Chaplin. He loved spending time at the beach with his friends and family, never worrying about the 138 stairs it took to get there and back. He was also known as the “Corn Hole Champion”, the only way for someone else to win was if he let them win. However, what Tom loved the most was spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Tom is survived by daughters, Meredith (Jim) Hammer of St. Joseph, and Monica (John) Freemire of Vicksburg, MI; grandchildren, Taylor, Dylan, Morgan & Thomas Freemire and Ellie, Maggie, & Kylie Hammer; and brother, David Siewert. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence & Florine.
