Tim's Obituary
Timothy O. McDonald, 73, of Kalkaska, MI, formerly of Dowagiac, passed away early Friday morning, February 13, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Tim’s service will take place on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at 10:30 AM, at Clark Chapel, 405 Center St., Dowagiac, with Father Raj, from Sacred Heart of Mary, Silver Creek Township, will be officiating. Rosary will be recited at 10:00 AM.
He was born on April 25, 1952, in Dowagiac, the son of the late Otis and Olivia (Kenny) McDonald. Tim was a graduate of Dowagiac High School and he continued his education receiving a bachelor’s degree from LSSU. As an electrical engineer, he worked for both Honeywell and Whirlpool. He reconnected with his high school sweetheart, Nancy Vollmer, and they married June 25, 1994.
Tim was a member of Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church and St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church, in Kalkaska. He was an avid fisherman enjoying both Lake Michigan and many beautiful waterways throughout the northern part of the state. His love for fishing was not to be out done by afternoon Harley-Davidson rides, photography, carpentry, woodworking, and sailing. Tim will be remembered for his big heart and his generosity towards others. Tim loved his family, big bear hugs and smoking damn good brisket and ribs.
Surviving are his wife - Nancy McDonald; son – Michael (Mandi) Vollmer; grandsons – Brady, Baron and Brigg Vollmer; brother – Charles (Debra) McDonald, sister – Christine Foster and niece – Nora Vollmer, whom he loved as his own.
