Tracey's Obituary

Tracey Eugene “Thrills” Nickens, 59, of Lansing, formerly of Dowagiac, passed away on January 7, 2024, in Lansing, Michigan. He was born on June 23, 1964, in Dowagiac, to Patsy (Norwood) Nickens and Lloyd Jay Marr.

Thrills was born to play basketball. He stayed on the basketball court and taught several others to play ball.

Tracey leaves to cherish his memory his 9 children - Latasha Moss, Shamiera Nickens, Patricia Moss, Timothy Moss, Theresa Moss, Aisha Nickens, Lakeisha Haynes, Jermaine Haynes and Mercedes Shelton; 43 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson; 1 sister -Veronica (Gonzales) Shivers; 3 brothers – Donald (Angela) Nickens, Ronald (Cathy) Nickens and Lee Clay (Bertha) Nickens; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; 2 brothers - Robert and August Nickens; 4 sisters - Gail Gaskill, Cassandra Nickens, Robin Donley and Barbara Scott; and 1 great-granddaughter - Ali’nah Gross.

Funeral services for Tracey will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, January 19, 2024, at Peace Temple Church of God in Christ, 102 Andrews St, Dowagiac, with Pastor Tracey Hatcher officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM on Friday at the church. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Dowagiac. Arrangements have been entrusted to Clark Chapel and Cremation Services – Starks Family Funeral Homes, 405 Center St, Dowagiac.
