Victor E. “Vic” Starrett, 94, of Niles, passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at 11:00AM, at Clark Chapel, 405 Center St. Dowagiac. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Dowagiac. Friends may visit with the family on Monday, April 17, 2023, from 5:00PM until 7:00PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in Vic’s name may be made to Caring Circle Hospice. Vic was born December 21, 1929, in Dowagiac, to Lawrence and Delia (Wesaw) Starrett. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1946-1947. In June of 1947, he married the love of his life, Geraldine Huston. Vic was a hardworking man, he worked for Tyler’s Refrigeration for over 32 years before his retirement. Vic, along with his family, had a love and dedication to building and racing stock cars. He was known as a giving and kind hearted man who is going to be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.
Vic is survived by his son, Ervin “Butch” (Tina) Starrett; grandchildren, Shannon (Jennifer) Lockeer, Ervin Starrett, Jr., Christine Peirce, Christina (Eric Franch) Barger, Douglas Barger and Corey Wade; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Delia Starrett; children, Michael Starrett, Donna Wesaw and Lawanda Wesaw; and siblings, Lyle Starrett, Howard Starrett, Audrey Huston, Philomena Starrett and Loretta Starrett.
