William's Obituary

William E. Barton, 75, of St. Joseph, passed away early Saturday morning, February 10, 2024, at Woodland Terrace Senior Living, St. Joseph, MI.

He was born on August 10, 1948, in Chicago, IL, the son of William D. and Audrey (McCann) Barton. On February 8, 1969, he was united in marriage to Jacqueline Nowak.

Bill Barton started his own company called WEB Technical Services providing control engineering services to major manufacturing companies. He was the developer for the Arborage subdivision where he and Jackie lived in St. Joseph. He was a loving grandpa and an avid car enthusiast. Bill competitively sailed the Mackinac race and the Tri-State Regatta, but looked forward to Wednesday night races. You could always find Bill at the yacht club, tinkering on his Big Red Truck, listening to Jimmy Buffet in his red Corvette, or out on the lake sailing Moody Blue.

His legacy lives on through his wife of 55 years – Jacqueline Barton; their three children – Elizabeth (Ron) Voglewede, Darcy (Matthew) Miller, and Kyle (Laura) Barton; their 8 grandchildren - Elise, Alana, Madelyn, Brie, Livie, Reid, Grace-Anne, and Wilem; and his brother – Robert Barton.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother – Edward Barton.

Thanks to the staff at Woodland Terrace for their loving care, especially Linda and Regina. Honoring Bill’s wishes, cremation has taken place and private family services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions in Bill’s name may be directed to St. Joseph Junior Sailing Foundation, Caring Circle Hospice, or Alzheimer’s Association. Those wishing to send a condolence online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.

Bill is at peace and out sailing again.
