William's Obituary
William A. Statler Jr., 69, of Dowagiac, passed away peacefully at home on Monday morning, February 16, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family after facing a recent cancer diagnosis with quiet strength and dignity.
Born on August 1, 1956, in Benton Harbor, Michigan, Bill was the son of the late William Sr. and Josephine (Glowacki) Statler. A proud graduate of Eau Claire High School, Bill went on to dedicate 35 years of hard work to Bosch Corporation (formerly Bendix Corporation), retiring in 2006. He took great pride in providing for his family and was known by coworkers and friends alike as dependable, steady, and kind.
Bill found his greatest joy in the simple, meaningful things in life. Whether he was out snowmobiling in the winter, tinkering for hours in his garage, or relaxing with his favorite music playing in the background, he was happiest when his hands were busy and his family was nearby. He had a gift for fixing just about anything and was always the first to lend a helping hand. If someone needed help, Bill showed up — no questions asked.
Above all, he cherished his family. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the light of his life, and he treasured every visit, every laugh, and every story shared. His steady presence, warm heart, and quiet sense of humor will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered.
He is survived by his children, William Statler III, Justin (Holly) Statler, and Jessica (Gary) Henderson; his eight grandchildren, Raelyn Statler, Alex Haywood, Kaylee Haywood, Justin Statler Jr., Charleigh Statler, Gracee Dillshaw, Xavier Henderson, and Adalynn Henderson; and three great-grandchildren, Cashel Haywood, Willow Haywood, and Zachari Kaminski. He is also survived by his siblings: Jimmy Statler, JoAnn (Vincent) Kugle, Sidney (Sue Ellen) Statler, Gloria (Benny) Davis, Darlene (David Sr.) Napier, Bobby Stattler, and Brandon Stattler.
Bill’s legacy lives on in the lessons he taught, the love he gave, and the countless lives he touched through his generosity and unwavering devotion to family.
Honoring Bill’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and his family is planning a service to celebrate his life. Arrangements will be announced when they are available.
Arrangements were entrusted to Clark Chapel – Starks Family Funeral Homes, Dowagiac.
