Wyona's Obituary

Wyona Ruth Douglas, age 90, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 5, 2025. She was born on September 13, 1934, to Clifford and Viola (Rose) Parrish in Ekalaka, Montana.

Wyona was born in a small town in eastern Montana. She had 2 brothers and 4 sisters. She went to a 1 room schoolhouse as a child, by the time she got to high school they moved from the country to Missoula Montana. She married her high school sweetheart and moved to California. There they raised 2 sons and a daughter. She was a devoted homemaker and always babysat an extra kid or two. She remarried in 1977 and gained another son and daughter. She and he second husband traveled the world and had a wonder life together until he passed in 2012. Then she moved to Stevensville to be near her daughter. Over the past few years, much of her family followed her to Michigan which added so much joy to her life. Our mom was a very caring, social and active person and thoroughly enjoyed befriending new people. She never met a stranger.

Wyona is survived by her children; John (Ellen) Sackett, Carol (Greg) Hulen, Robert (Delana) Douglas, Cathy (Jammie) Dorsey, 14 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her son Michael Sackett.

Visitation with Wyona’s family will take place on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at the Starks and Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd. Saint Joseph, Michigan 49085. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 11:00 am at Grace Lutheran Church (404 Glenlord Road, Saint Joseph, Michigan 49085) with visitation starting at church at 10:30 am. For a more lasting memory, donations in Wyona’s name can be made out to Grace Lutheran Church.
