Lowell Vernon Hicks, 88, of Stevensville, MI passed away on Monday, October 15, 2018 in his residence. Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Funeral Home – 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI.
Lowell was born on June 3, 1930 in Judsonia, AR to the late Ulysses and Annie (Arnold) Hicks. He served his country while in the U.S. Navy. Lowell married Elaine Roussos on December 11, 1949 in Boston, MA; she preceded him in death in April 2015. Lowell worked for Whirlpool and retired as a Supervisor of Industrial Engineers in 1988 after almost 40 years of service. In his younger years Lowell was an avid and skilled bowler, golfer and softball pitcher. He was a fix-it master and well loved by all. Lowell was also one of the founding members, with a strong faith, of the St. Joseph Church of Christ.
Lowell is survived by his sons – Russell Hicks of Sodus, MI, Evan (Susan) Hicks of Fair Oaks, CA, Earnest (Shirley) Hicks of Minooka, IL and Jamison (Lisa) Hicks of Galien, MI; his daughter – Mayrose Harner of Hartford, MI; 14 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and a brother – Olan (Barbara) Hicks of Judsonia, AR. He is also preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
A Celebration of Life service will take place on Friday, October 19, 11:00 A.M., at Starks & Menchinger Funeral Home in St. Joseph. Burial will follow at Hickory Bluff Cemetery in Stevensville. Visitation with the family will precede the service from 10:00-11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph Church of Christ.
