Jimmy's Memory Wall
We encourage you to share your most beloved memories of Jimmy here, so that the family and other loved ones can always see it. Share your favorite stories or comment on those shared by others.
I had the pleasure of meeting and talking with Jimmy numerous times when we shared a pizza lunch at Whitcomb Tower with the Whirlpool Veterans Association. He had an incredible memory about his military career and early life. I truly enjoyed listening to the stories he would tell. When I was still employed, I would have to tear myself away from the table when I would have much rather have stayed and listened. Even though I’m retired, I still attend those lunches. He will be surely missed. My condolences to his family.

Some families stand tall because they get to stand on the shoulders of giants. JImmy was one of those giants. Our grandkids and both of us loved visiting with JImmy, and he was a very special friend. His memory was sharp and he played the piano with so much heart. And the view he has from heaven is second only to the view from his 7th floor apartment at Whitcomb. The world will sorely miss this wonderful, gentle soul.

In honor of Jimmy, Josephine Cupp lit a candle.
This candle is lit from my mother, who enjoyed Jimmys musical talents so many times when she joined the warblers at the Whitcomb.

Met Jimmy after we had recorded our WW11 experiences at RESA in 2001. These were then put on a disc with fifty others .
Later we had our stories printed in the Lest We Forget book.
We took part in many inter-active TV presentations and visits to several schools.
One special occasion was the presentation of a certificate of appreciation from Hospice to a Russian WW 11 soldier at a local home, the family treated Jimmy and I to a home cooked meal.
A Lest We Forget member did research for Jimmy and I and found that our grandfathers had served in the Civil War and provided us with print-outs,they fought on opposite sides.
Jimmy always joined us at the St.Joseph -Lincoln Center to take part in our Veterans Day program.
When I joined the St,Joseph Lion's Club ten years ago Jimmy gave me great Southern Welcome.
I visited the Whitcomb on several occasions and Jimmy treated me like an honored guest .
He was a great friend and be missed.

Jimmy was a caring, kind man who took loving care of his ailing wife. He was an asset to the St. Joseph Public Library Board.
