Dear Crystal, Liz and I just heard of Ron's passing and you have our condolences. Ron was my first Lieutenant when I started on the road patrol and I will never forget all the good advise he gave me and moreover how he stood by me whether right or wrong. He was one of the County's best and the finest officer that I have ever had the pleasure to work with. I know that my father was also very fond of Ron, which says a lot . I will never forget his smile and laughter. He was my mentor and I am so proud of that. God bless you and your family.

Chris & Family, Even though it was years ago, we had so many great times together and those memories I will cherish forever. Working with Ron at the Lodge started our friendship and then getting that call from him at BTPD telling me that he wanted me at the Sheriff's Dept. All the late night "Planning sessions" either at the Lodge or whoever had a live band playing....We always made it in the next day and onto the next challenge. He always told me that he was the Umbrella and that when the shit comes down he will deflect it off his guys. One of the best, if not the best supervisors ever! I will truly miss him. Prayers are with you as work thought this loss.

Chris, I'm so sorry for your loss of Ron. He was a special person with a tremendous sense of humor. He endured a lot over the years and handled it with such grace. I remember some special times together. I recall the times Ron would prepare for his patrol duties...he would wash all the windows on the squad car, then go in the squad car with cleaning rags...wipe down the steering wheel. It was a Jackie Gleason and Art Carney moment!
Chris, I will not be able to attend the service. I had surgery last week and have to be off by feet for at least two weeks. And I hope we can talk in the near future.

I will always remember my cousin Ron as a robust and upbeat spirit, a quick-witted and strong presence (much like his dad Herb in that way). I always enjoyed seeing and chatting with him at family gatherings, as he always had a good story or two, usually related to his work with the BCSD. Ron was one of my dad's favorites, as he liked Ron's stature and bearing, once commenting "I swear Ronnie Schalon struts even when he's sitting down!" My condolences to Sindy, Sherry, Kris and all the extended family....

Chris and family,
Pat and I are saddened at the passing of Ron. Chris, it has been forty six plus years since I worked for Ron at the BCSD. I was at that time and to this day, proud and honored to say that Ron was my Lt. His leadership help guide me as a Deputy at the BCSD and continued during my career in the Michigan State Police.
Lt. had a way of being able to tune you up to correct a mistake you had made without belittling you. You learned from your mistake, while walking out with your head held high. Lt. was always sharp in his appearance and his voice calming.
It is our prayer, that God, family and friends provide comfort to you in the days, weeks and months ahead.

Christel and family,
Ron was a special person. His mild-mannered disposition was perfectly suited for his chosen profession. The communities he served both in Michigan and Florida are better places as a result of his dedicated service. We are better for having had him as a friend and we will miss him. Our condolences, Dan and Sharon Deja

One of the worlds best "cops", always fair and you never saw anything on his face but a smile!
Rest in peace Ron, you deserve it!
