I’m so sorry I missed the visitation. I started working with Dr Lisher as a PACU nurse in 1989. I became a CWOCN nurse in 2001 and he welcomed me, always showing the utmost respect. My job involves a lot of wounds and skin assessments. Dr Lisher started callling me the ‘REAR Admiral’. My sympathy to all of the family. It was an honor to work beside him. I’ll always remember his great smile!

Dear, dear Carlie. We were honored to have you as both a doctor and a personal friend. Always a smile and bragging about his family. Our hearts are heavy with his loss. The world has lost one of it's best. Our condolences especially to Mary Ann. She was the light of his life. Our prayers for the entire family. God Bless you all through this sad, empty time. He left us doing what he loved. He will be missed. We are so sorry Mary Ann and family. Quite the shock. He's now in Heaven looking down and wrapping his arms around all of us. R.I.P. our friend. Thoughts and prayers sent to Dr. Lischer’s family. I enjoyed working with him during his years at Lakeland and am able to work with his daughter Julie & daughter-in-law Wendy. He was a man loved by his family and he will be missed by them and so many others who he came in contact with.

To Mary Anne,
Beverlie and I were both saddened to read about Charlie’s death. The two of you were great friends and I loved working with him and we enjoyed a few good parties together; we were saddened to have you leave SB , but understood you decision to do so. I remember his fall in SB on the loose gravel when we found out that he was a diabetic. We are glad to read about you good lives together and we send you our love.

Dear Mary Anne, Bernie (and family), Julie (and family) and Mia (and family): I can remember like it was only yesterday the Lischer family and the Adams family standing on the sidelines screaming at Bernie & Taylor as they plucked clovers from the middle of the soccer field, oblivious to the game, as the soccer ball rolled past them. I have a big grin on my face as I recall our enthusiastic screams, completely ignored by our sons. Where did that treasured time go? My deepest sympathies to you all on the loss of your beloved husband and wonderful Papa and Grand Dad. What a truly great guy. I am confident that Heaven is celebrating their new arrival with open arms and bear hugs. Son Taylor, my Rhodes Scholar, left his professorship in Religious Studies at Western Michigan to return to the warm climes of beautiful Santa Barbara. He's a happily single guy who is looking around for new teaching opportunities closer to "home". I continue my judgeship (40 + years) and I now have two younger sons, ages 11 and 13, with my wonderful wife of 25 years. As you may have heard I lost dear Karen perhaps 28 or so years ago to cancer. I've been twice blessed with ladies who love me (for some reason) and 4 sons who think I'm a good guy - plus two grandsons ages 4 and 2. Yup, I'm a very blessed fellow....as was Sir Charlie. I'll drive by the homestead on Foothill Road in a prayerful salute to my old friend and his wonderful family. Know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. My love - Judge Tom Adams and Family.

Like many of the Whiners my husband and I met Charlie in Iowa, biking the beautiful countryside. He was a kind, gentle soul, who loved his wife, children and dog and talked about his loved ones generously. I was fortunate to ride with him at his last official Whiner event in the fall. We talked easily about our lives along with Karen Ferraro, enjoying the beautiful day and our mutual joy of being out and together with so many great bikers. He will be greatly missed and I feel fortunate to have known him. Since we are in FL, we will miss his service, but we will be there in spirit.

Mary Ann and family, Our entire family thought so highly of Charlie and his wonderful smile. He has treated everyone in our family and in fact, we were known to be the family that funded the west wing. Our thoughts and prayers go out to your entire family, as there are not enough wonderful human beings as Charlie was.

One of the nicest most selfless men I've ever met. I had the great pleasure of spending a few hours with Charlie. Linda and I looked forward to what became our annual dinner with Mary Anne and him at Shame on the Moon in Palm Springs. Our last time together - viewing the eclipse in J. R.'s back yard.

Ride in Iowa with Charlie for many, many years. He was one of those really nice human beings that made any experience you were having that much more enjoyable. Always pleasant, usually smiling, and there to inject a knee if necessary. Goodbye Charlie, it was a pleasure putting in the miles with you.

I was so sorry to hear of the passing of Dr. Lischer. I was a long time patient of his from 1999 until his retirement. He also cared for my deceased husband, Fred. Dr. Lischer (Charlie as he wanted me to call him) was a very caring physician. He took time to answer your questions and was truly interested in you as a person not just another patient. Talked with him around Christmas and will always remember our talks. He will be greatly missed. by those who knew him, but he passed doing the thing he loved. God Bless Mary Ann and family.

Mary Ann and family,
My prayers for comfort and peace are with you for you loss. As a patient, I remember
Charlie's humor " catholics often had knee problems because of all the kneeling up and down, during mass." . He gave me a new knee 15 years ago and it's still working great. A fine surgeon. He'll be greatly missed.

Dr Lischer was one of those physicians who took great pride in his capability as a surgeon and physician. You knew he was blessed with that gift . He was great with people and had a great sense of compassion and humility. That, coupled with his sense of humor, made him a wonderful gentleman to be around .. my condolences go out to his family. He will be missed for not only being the person he was but for bringing joy to so many. God bless you
