Frieda Gerstenkorn

Frieda Gerstenkorn, of Stevensville past away at age 100 on Saturday, January 27, 2018, at The Willows Assisted Living. A celebration of life service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Pastor Jeff Bolwerk officiating. Burial will follow at Hickory Bluff Cemetery, Stevensville. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Matthews Lutheran Church or Caring Circle Hospice. Frieda was born in Gnesen, Posen Povince, Prussian Poland/Germany on October 14, 1917, to Emil and Natalie Jenk and married Karl Gerstenkorn on May 26, 1936. They had three children, Hildegard (Siegfried) Lehmann of Stevensville; Erhard (Renate) Gerstenkorn of Stevensville and Ingrid (Peter) Wadel of Branch, Michigan. Blessed with 9 Grandchildren, Michael (Stephanie) Lehmann, Lori (David) Chung, Brian Gerstenkorn, Matthew (Wendy) Gerstenkorn, Melessa Gerstenkorn, David Scott (Sheri) Pallas, Kirstin Brown, Joseph (Audrey) Wadel and Elle Breton Wadel and 11 Great-grandchildren, Anthony (Ashley) Sgroia, Karl and Alex Aamoth, Samuel, Peter and Joshua, Brielle, and Corissa LaCourse, Kyla Gerstenkorn, Anya Berlin and Brooklyn Pallas. Other survivors include, sister-In-law Hedwig Jenk, brother-in-law Josef Broja both In Germany and many nieces and nephews in Germany and Stevensville. Her husband, Karl, preceded her in death in 2003, also a son, Horst in 1941, as well as five brothers and one sister. Frieda was a stay-at-home Mom who enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and many friends. She especially enjoyed spending time with Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening & was known for her “green thumb” – Her roses were spectacular! She will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends.
