Hugs and Prayers to all the Davey Family at the loss of your sweet dad! I told my husband today when I learned of his passing that he was always my favorite pastor and still is to this day. All of your family was such a blessing to our entire family as well. (Both John and Jim serving along side your dad at different times in our church.) I will always remember how very personally invested you all were in your church family and how much you loved us. Pastor Davey had great wit, was an excellent preacher and leader and an amazing Godly example for his church family. Celebrating his heavenly homecoming with you while we also mourn with your loss.

A truly great man of God that I was blessed to have for a pastor. He was kind with a great sense of humor. Remember the “cute Fred” nickname he was given after being on the cover of the church cookbook? He was my all time favorite pastor, followed by his son John who followed in his dad’s footsteps. Loved the whole family. His family is a testament to what a great man of God he was.

My Dear Davey Family, there is an old song that Alvin and I sang with Fred....”what a day that will be, when my Savior I shall see, when He takes me by the hand and leads,me through the promised land.” Knowing this to be trues for Fred, dries our tears and strengthens our hope. I love each of you dearly...as I did him. Glenna Oldham

Brother Davey was one of the closest friends I ever had in ministry. He laid the foundation for my call to pastoral care and preaching the Word of God. I will never forget the counsel and role model he shared in my life when having had the privilege of working as a summer intern in 1969 and 1970. He held two different revival meetings for us at churches where I pastored. People just loved so much his preaching, praying with individuals and encouragement. My wife and I will always be indebted to him and his family. We love and appreciate you with our continued prayers.

One of the precious moments of my ministry career was when Pastor Fred accepted my invitation to pray my ordination prayer in 1982 at the altar of Central Community Church in Wichita, KS. Prior to this moment and later on, Fred was a pastor I revered and respected. I am so very grateful to God that our paths crossed! I share with the family a sense of loss. I rejoice with them in Fred's homegoing! To God be the glory!

His favorite saying while he ministered at Trinity Church of God, Huntington, WV was " If God gave you lemons, make lemonade ".
A great man of God. So blessed to have served with him. Gretna Watson

Dear Dorothy and family, I am so sorry for your loss. He was a wonderful person!!!! We ALWAYS had a smile on his face!! I remembered when he visited me at Royalton. He will certainly be missed by many including myself. May the Lord comfort you and your family. Always remember that he's never really gone as long as you remember him!!! Love, Christina Nails:

I always loved to hear Pastor Fred whistle in the narthex and the fellowship hall at CSCofG. When he would pass behind my chair, he'd always stop to give me a hug, because I'm a "hugger". He had a beautiful, sincere voice. I rejoiced when hearing him sing, each and every time during church services. You could sense his deep faith and humble, internal joy, just by being around him. He nicknamed me "Whoopi", (after Whoopi Goldberg in "Sister Act") because during the years I was choir director, I had a hard time keeping my body from swaying and bouncing whenever we sang a jivy hymn. My entire family sends heartfelt condolences and prayers to his family and friends. He will be so greatly missed by me, and numerous others who were lucky enough to share precious moments of life with him. Heaven must be a little brighter, now that Fred is home with his Lord and Savior.
