Claire 's Memory Wall
We encourage you to share your most beloved memories of Claire here, so that the family and other loved ones can always see it. Share your favorite stories or comment on those shared by others.
I worked with Jerry on almost a daily basis in the pharmacy… That’s where I met Claire... she was such a wonderful person, always smiling and nice to me and the other employees there. Every time I would see her she always seem like she was happy to see me and catch up. The two of them would always show up at our family events like anniversaries, funerals, and the marriage of our daughter as well as other events. Whenever Jerry and I would talk about family and Claire it was always in the most positive light… We hadn’t seen Claire in a while, in fact when Susan and I drove by their house a few weeks ago we wondered how she was and if she was still living there… We are so sorry to hear about her passing… Heidi and Peter you had a great mom...

From 2003-2004, I was a student of Mrs. Weiman's Allied Health class, where she taught us how to become nurses aides and care for others. She instilled in me a wonderful love of nursing. Furthermore, she helped me immensely in determining who I was and who I wanted to become after high school. I will never forget her wonderful guidance, knowledge, and laughter. Almost twenty years later, I find myself a Professor of Nursing at a large university and if was not for Mrs. Weiman's wonderful instruction and advice long ago, I would not be where I am today.

So sad to hear of the passing of my classmate from high school Claire. She was the most intelligent one in our class and being an observer in the classroom of Claire, I was always impressed. Also, impressed with her education as an RN and later as a science teacher. She was humble, kind and so very friendly. I always enjoyed our conversations and later at Economics Club gatherings had a chance to catch up with her later life events. My wife Donna attended church with her and her father as Pastor., a real dedicated family helping others. Her husband was a good friend of my brother Roger. (Jim menchinger)

Mrs. Weimann was a true friend and inspiration to the students she taught at Bridgman High School. She made learning fun and therefore students loved her classes. Her care for others and their success was always clear with her. She was a personal inspiration for me and many others, as many of her students, including myself, went on to become nurses. She is truly missed and never forgotten. Prayers and comfort for the family.

I am so sorry to the family of Mrs. Weimann for the loss of such a great lady! I was a graduate of 1998 of Bridgman and although as someone else mentioned on here I new I wanted to be a nurse... Mrs. Weimann helped light that path for me with Health Occupations and Anatomy/physiology. She was fun, full of spunk, and such a great role model for many of us! I was so fortunate that our paths crossed just days before she passed and was able to tell her about my life path so far and how she played a part in it and was able to thank her. And in Claire Weimann style she introduces me to a son of hers saying “this is miss Binder” as she would call me in high school even though my last name has now changed. May she Rest In Peace and her family know and find comfort in the impact and influence Claire had on many people!

Mrs. Weimann was a big influence on me at Bridgman High School in 1990-91. I already knew I wanted to be a nurse, but she was an example that I will never forget. She helped me gain confidence that I was pursuing the right career path. I’ll never forget her sweet smile and the laughter she brought to Health Occupations and Anatomy/physiology. She guided me through my first heath care experience at Jordan’s Nursing Home and I loved it. I’ve had an extremely rewarding career in nursing and I’ve gone on to become a nurse practitioner. I’ve never forgotten her. I’m so sorry for the loss of this amazing woman.

We first met Claire and Jerry 51 years ago when we moved to St Joseph and Lynn started drilling at the Benton Harbor Naval Reserve Center. We have great memories of our times together over the years. The last years have been difficult for Claire with illnesses, loss of a daughter and husband. She had remarkable strength to carry on, being active and continuing to live alone in her home. We are so glad that we were able to return to St Joseph last November and chauffeur her to the Lest We Forget Concert and dinner with the survivors of the old Naval Reserve group.

I was a student of Mrs. Weimann’s from 2000-2003. She changed the course of my life. At the time she was teaching in the throes of a painful disease. Despite her illness, she was a force. She introduced me to academia, medicine, empathy, and the legacy of strong, powerful women and mothers. She made me hungry for knowledge. She inspired me to pursue an education at the University of Washington in Public Heath and Economics. I went on to have a career as a Policy and Financial manager at one of the nation’s largest housing authorities and become a mother of three. Throughout pregnancy, motherhood, and professional leadership, I often reminded myself of the wise words bestowed upon me by Claire. I will be forever grateful for the influence she had upon my life.
