I went on 2 or 3 Washington D.C. bus trips with Mr. Colombel, chaperoning high school kids. I soon came to admire and respect him for his compassion and empathy for the children as well as his love of serving his community. R.I.P.

Deepest sympathy for the loss of a legend. Mr C and his family were family to mine, and I think back on all of the fond memories with him-many of which he captured on film. He was one of a kind! Love from the DeYoung family

We will always remember the wonderful gatherings at the Colombel's.. Maurice was a terrific cook - how we always looked forward to his ribs. There were the best we have ever tasted, bar none. Maurice seemed to be interested in everything and we always learned new things from him. His commitment to the schools and to kids built our respect for him even more. We will miss his generous and humanistic spirit. Our sympathy goes out to Betty, raig, Keith, and Allison

It is truly a great loss to not only the Colombel family but the covert community as well. He will definitely be missed, but never forgotten by me or the Class of "99". CB was at just about ever athletic event I was in. Reinforcing discipline,a old joke, and a candid picture was what you got every time. My condolence to the Colombel family, we love you "C-Nilla"

My prayers are with the family. I worked with Mr. Colombel at Whirlpool. He was a wonderful person, always friendly and pleasant. I could tell that he was a family man as he would always talk about his wife and children. He also loved to share pictures his children, especially his baby daughter. I am sure he will be greatly missed.

My sincere sympathy to the Colombel Family. I was saddened to hear of Maurice's passing. I knew Maurice from our years at Whirlpool. He was such a fun loving, kind and considerate man. He always had a smile and a twinkle in his eyes. I last saw Maurice about seven years ago at a Club 18 Dinner/Dance and he gave me a big hug. My thoughts and prayers will be with you at this most difficult time.

Maurice's smiling presence has been missed in our halls for many years. His grace and loving care for students and the entire Covert family were a true blessing. We know that he is busy snapping pictures with the pearly gates as a frame and videos with heavnely hosts singing and harp music in the background. Our prayers and love are with the family always.

My deepest condolences to the Colombel family. I have such fond memories of Maurice's smile, his friendliness and his sense of humor. Of course I will also always remember the joy of eating Maurice's ribs (and Betty's peach cobbler). Among Maurice's many other contributions to the world, he sure had a gift of cooking those ribs! We were blessed to be able to know Maurice and he will forever live in our hearts.

Maurice and Betty "took us in" when I was a young, single mother with three children and had no place to go during Thanksgiving and Christmas. I will forever be grateful. My grown children will never forget...the gumbo, the ribs, the fun and laughter ...but most importantly, the love. Maurice was a bright, alive, multifaceted man with many, many interests and an enormous heart. When Maurice picked up apples at our farm in Covert to deliver to the hungry Dad would say, "That man has a heart of gold!" St. Peter knows what a good deal he has coming through the gates. Good bye my friend. I am richer for having known you.

As a classmate of Allison's, I was very saddened to hear of Mr. Colombel's passing. 17-1/2 years ago, Mr. Colombel was kind enough to take albums full of beautiful pictures of our wedding, and all these years later they are displayed throughout our house, and shown to our students and guests. These pictures are now more than just a record of our wedding ceremony, however. They have become a testimony to the kindness, skill, and thoughtfulness of Mr. Colombel, and I believe that countless others besides us have also been blessed in countless ways for having known him. Our thoughts and earnest prayers for God's comfort, care and strength are with all of you who mourn the passing of a true gentleman. With prayers and love, Mike and Makiko Boyle, Tokyo, Japan.
