We encourage you to share your most beloved memories of Wallace "Wally" here, so that the family and other loved ones can always see it. Share your favorite stories or comment on those shared by others.
It was a privilege to teach with Wally at Berrien Springs high School. He reflected the very best of that faculty. Wally was highly respected for his integrity, his professionalism, and for the good man he was. He was a blessing to so many in many different ways: as a teacher, mentor, patriot, Christian and friend. Wally, it was a privilege to know you and your family. Peace and Joy, Gerald F. Hagans, former colleague.

Mr. Flower (an I cannot bring myself to referring to him as Wally, even at age 53) had a profound impact on my life as a student. He made me a critical thinker and encouraged the need in me to analyze things until I had a clear picture. I am saddened by your loss, and please know that I'll hold everyone in the family in prayer. -Jay Carter-

I have often listened to great stories about Mr. Flower from his son, Bill. Bill is my boss at Specialty Heat treating and over the years had told me these stories with a great sparkle in his eyes. I can tell that this man achieved great things in his life and left a life-time of memories for Bill, and his whole family. Shelly, Tori, and I send our prayers and sympathy to Bill, and your entire family in this time of sorrow. Celebrate his life and take comfort in his memories. God Bless you all.

For all those times you stood by me For all the truth that you made me see For all the joy you brought to my life For all the wrong that you made right For every dream you made come true For all the love found in you I'll be forever thankful Uncle Wally You're the one who held me up Never let me fall You're the one who saw me through all You were my strength when I was weak You were my voice when I couldn't speak You were my eyes when I couldn't see You saw the best there was in me Lifted me up when I couldn't reach You gave me faith In the Lord because you believed You gave me wings and made me fly You touched my hand I could touch the sky I lost my faith, you gave it back to me You said no star was out of reach You stood by me and I stood tall Being my God father I had it all I'm grateful for each day you gave me Maybe I don't know that much But I know this much is true I was blessed because I was loved by you You were always there for me The tender wind that carried me A light in the dark shining your love into my life You've been my inspiration Through the challenges you were the truth My world is a better place because of you Thank You God For The Special Valentine's Day Gifts: Jesus Christ and Uncle Wallace

I was one of Mr. Flowers' physics students at Watervliet, way back in '62. He was wonderful! His sense of humor made a very difficult subject enjoyable. I have always remembered him fondly, and wish his family well. Rest in peace, and thank you, Mr Flowers, for all you did for our country, and especially for dedicating your career to the children of Michigan. Mr Flower had a profound effect on my life. I was not destined to be a scientist or a mathematician but he gave me the gift of belief in the importance of trying to achieve as much as possible in the interest of becoming an educated person . He challenged all of us with his quirkiness and humor and oblique view of the world. He had wisdom and warmth and an ability to encourage 'thinking out of the box' long before that became a cliche. He made math and science into an exercise in creative thinking . I think of him often and with gratitude and fondness.

Mr. Flower was one of the best teachers that I ever was fortunate enough to be a student of at Berrien Springs. What I remember the most is him having us prove a new formula based on old formulas in the Physics class. He taught us how to critically think. He will be greatly missed.

My symphaty go Mr. Flowers family. We never called him "Wally" to his face. He was certainly the best teacher I ever had including my college years. My college major was Environmental Science and I learned more from him in my HS chem and physics than any prof. in college. He made you 'think' and I have thought of him often in the years since. Rest in Peace - Wally.

I just received information on the passing of Wally Flower 2/17/2012 and want to extend my best to his family. I taught will Wally in Berrien Springs for some years and regarded Wally as a sage and humorist. I well remember how he appeared in front of one his classes wearing baseball shingards after hearing how a student who had lost an argument kicked me in the shinns. It was really a good natured assault on her part. Wally and Nel were good natured folks.
