Vivian always had a big smile and a bigger laugh. My thoughts are with her family and friends. May she rest in peace.

My childhood friend. Viv lived across the street and we spent hours playing croquet, riding on her Dad's orchard truck and just having fun. The memories will remain but now your family needs support just to get through each day. I will miss her too. My sympathy and blessings for you all.

One of the most funniest times of my life was spent in a ladies room some where between Kansas City and home with Viv - we just could not stop laughing. Of course we were laughing about our two Eds, a cell phone in the ocean and the "who knows" of the younger generatuion. I will always treasure my times spent with Viv and miss her very much.

I have known Viv since our first week at WMU. We have been close friends even though we lived far apart for many years. I treasure so many memories such as visiting the Lyman family on weekends during college, living with Viv, Mary Lou, and Kay in our apartment in Mt. Clemens, and so many more. She helped me through my own crisis and was always cheerful and positive. I miss her so much. My sincere sympathy to all of Viv's family. It has been a privilege to be among her many friends. WE are so sorry to hear about Vivian passing away. She lived a beautiful life and shared many great smiles and love to us all. Jim and I will continue to smile over our past memories of Vivian at The Shack! We loved her sense of humor. She will be greatly missed but has left with us some special memories. Our love to you Ed and prayers will be lifted for you to be held in the arms of Jesus as you go through these difficult days ahead. Vivian has been called home because her work on earth is done. She now is walking hand in hand with Jesus and wearing her crown that she has earned! Thank You Jesus for the promise of eternal life. We will be coming to the Funeral home Monday night. Again, our sympathies to you, Ed, and your family. Jim and Chris Rietveld

"Uncle" Ed, Judy, Cathy, Andy & Family, Mom, Tina and I are just shocked and saddened to hear about "Aunt" Viv's passing. What a wonderful soul she was...a true blessing to anyone who knew her. She was the smartest, funniest, most amazing woman...we all loved her dearly ~ and we all love you dearly too! We are sending our love and prayers your way and hope that you are able to find peace in the difficult days ahead. We wish we could be there with all of you in person, but know that you're in our hearts and we are there, right beside you, in spirit. Saw this prayer and wanted to share it with you... "Life is but a stopping place, A pause in what's to be, A resting place along the road, to sweet eternity. We all have different journeys, Different paths along the way, We all were meant to learn some things, but never meant to stay... Our destination is a place, Far greater than we know. For some the journey's quicker, For some the journey's slow. And when the journey finally ends, We'll claim a great reward, And find an everlasting peace, Together with the Lord." We love you! God Bless you Aunt Viv!! Nancy, Tracy & Tina P.S. ~ I just know she's already up in heaven playing cribbage and euchre with my Dad!!

Ed, Judy, Cathy and Andy, One of the things that comforts me is the knowledge that Viv is with her beloved sister Marilyn now. The good ones go first I think. I'll miss Viv so much; she had all that love for you, her immediate family, but still had a huge reserve for a lot of other family, grand-kids, friends, and of course her 4-legged friends. I consider myself so lucky to have been one of those to whom she gave that love. We became even closer after my mom died, and I think drew some strength from each other over these last 24 years. I've never met a more cheery person in my life. We could talk for hours together; and of course that usually involved a lot of laughing. Like the time we sat in the little room off your kitchen at the 1st Duck Lake house and stayed up nearly till dawn just talking. She was very proud of her family, and of course you most of all. Rightly so. I love you all, and will be there in spirit with you this week. Tom

To all of Vivian's family: I am Vivian's second cousin (Gerald Sherman's oldest daughter). Up until I was 5 years old, we lived right next door to the dairy. Vivian worked in the office of the dairy during some of that time. I remember her being so sweet to me as a little girl. I was fascinated with a stuffed fox that was perched on top of a safe in the office and Vivian would take me in there to look at it. It's one of the most vivid memories of my preschool years! I hadn't seen her very often in my adult years, but I do know that when I did, she still had the vivacious, wonderful spirit and personality that I'd remembered. My condolences go out to you on the loss of your much-loved wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
