I would like to extend my prayers and sympathys to the greiffendorfs for their loss. My prayers will be with you as they have during lois fight with cancer. I would like to share a quick story that tells the kind of person lois was and is. I went to elementary school and was in hillarys class and we went on a retreat to a place called camp pretty lake. There were a series of challenges including a high wire which i thought i would master. Well needless to say i got to the top and the tears of fright began as i froze up. Lois was one of the parents and she tried to talk me down but there was no talking i was staying there. Lois climbed up all the way and got me down and put me at ease, thats the type of person she was and will be missed.

Mrs. Greiffendorf and her husband were my CCD teacher back about 24 years ago with Saint Basils. I have had many memories with them with lock inn's at church, going to there house, walking the forest, and doing the dunes and having faith in others by letting them catch us. She had a way of talking about God too you that would make you listen and she had a very caring person with a smile always. God gave us a wonderful person to us on earth she will be missed but not forgotten.

Dear Greiffendorf Family, I am so, so, sorry to hear of Lois' passing. She was such a good person in everything she did. I remember when she taught my niece Asher, how to do the hula for the Little Miss Blueberry Contest. She told Asher "give it your all". She did, and won. Lois was so excited. Everytime I spoke with her she had a smile on her face and would talk about the love she had for her family. She will be so missed. Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Tom & family, Lois was such a special person. She took such good care of my kids when they were at Hackett. (And even beyond.) She was very loving and understanding of things that they were going through. She had a laugh that carried down the halls at Hackett. We will miss her. Thank you for sharing the journey that you have all been on the past year with us. You all taught us important things-about life and the dignity that a person can have even at the end of that life. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. Love, Mary

Dear Tom, Sister Mary Agnes, Lauren, Rachel and family, So many memories of Lois have been filling my mind as I pray for her and your family. Lois always cared for others. She always made me feel special as she walked into church and greeted me and others. She showed the love of God to all. We were blessed to have known her; for God's disciple walked among us. Even in Lois' suffering, she asked about others and she loved them. Remembering Lois as part of our bible study brings a smile and joy; for as Lois spoke of her faith, she became animated, she became hopeful, and she again showed the Lord to us. Thank you for sharing Lois with me, my family, and so many others. May she be in peace and joy with her Savior, and may your family be comforted by God's touch. Love, Joann

Tom and family, My condolences to your family. I remember Tom and Lois as my youth directors at St Basil some 24 yrs ago. Lois had such a wonderful relationship with God and life in general and was a wonderful, loving, caring person. She taught more than just the Catholic faith and values, she taught us about life and how to treat other human beings. Even after graduation from high school and starting a family, Lois was always there with a hug and a warm smile. She will be greatly missed but I know she is in heaven with Mary Lou and they are dancing joyfully unto the Lord. And knowing she is there, I have one more person keeping an eye out for my mom and dad up there too. Plus I have one more guardian angel looking after me. May you find peace and comfort in the Lord above these next few weeks and in moving forward in your lives. May God Bless each of you. Georgia Dulik

Carolina and I attended one of the most impressive funerals we have witnessed since our coming to St Basil. Fr. Bob had such a wonderful homily in which he expressed so much of what Lois has been all about, plus the closing remarks of our Bishop. We have such fond memories of Lois! These go back a few years when we visited The River Ridge senior home to bring communion to Florence and her husband Jerry Rouse. Lois often was there with her brother from Naperville IL. As deacon at St Basil serving at Sunday Mass I was always impressed by how well Lois served as lector. By her reading of scripture one could hear that she was expressing her deep faith. As most of us we will miss her but we also know that we will meet her again in our Lords presence in the heavenly Kingdom. That is our prayer for her and you her family. Dear Tom and girls, What a treasure Lois was in so many ways! I remember the early years with the girls at Saint Basil's, oh how much fun we had and Lois was always in the middle of it all, making us all laugh with her humor and good nature. What a testimony of Christ's love she was to all who knew her. Her funeral was standing room only, a sure sign of a woman who made a difference in the world. I liked what the priest said, she didn't pass away she only passed on to be with the Lord. This we know! Much love to you all, Dennis, Suzie, Jessica, Josh and Chelsea Fitzgibbon

Tom and Daughters, It was good to see you at Mass Sunday and see that your Faith is evident in the loss of your wonderful, caring and loving wife and mother. Lois always had a warm word for everyone. Her smile lit up a room. I said she was with Asher now and it soothed me to hear you say, even in your pain, that you pray for Asher every Sunday. Thank you. Dear Greiffendorf family, Mrs. G was a strong, unforgettable woman. I consider myself to be among the fortunate ones to be a student of hers, but she really did become more a friend than just a teacher, one I could always talk to and one I could always trust. Religion freshman year at Hackett with Mrs. Greiff was the first class I ever took in High school. If it wasn’t for her making the seating chart alphabetical order, I probably would have never made my first best friend in high school, the boy who sat in front of me aka Mitchell Noonan. Mrs. G was a great teacher of faith. A fond memory of her class was when she had assigned the class to make a faith board game, and my group decided to make the Catholic version of Twister. As we were practicing our game by putting our left foot on the Eucharist and our right hand on the crucifix in the middle of the hallway, Mrs. G decided to join in on playing our game. My group then spent the next thirty minutes playing our Catholic Twister game with Mrs. G trying not to fall as our bodies were humorously entangled on top of rosaries, chalices, hosts, and crosses. I’ve been taught by a multitude of teachers, but somehow Mrs. G was one of the most exceptional. I think it was because I was in awe of the power of life she seemed to exude. I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone so intensely positive. Whenever I saw her in the hallways, in church, or in class, she was always smiling, caring, truly interested, offering ideas, and bubbling with energy. She truly had a passion for humanity that I will eternally feel in my heart. As being a student of hers, I think what truly resonates with me, as I’m sure it does with countless others, is her spirit. It seems clear that Mrs. G was a rare person. The fact that she made such an impression even on people who did not get to know her well attests to that fact. I wish I had words that could lighten your agony, but sometimes words are just not enough. Please accept my deepest condolences on your loss. Love, Amy Pinner
