Dear Mary, Stan,Henry,Peggy, Susie, and all of the Compton family,
My heart goes out to all of you at the sudden loss of such a warm and happy husband, brother,father, and uncle and friend that Bobby always was. His smile, rosey cheeks, and always that chuckle that could make anyone smile will be truly missed. Please take comfort that friends and family care no matter how far or distant they have become. Don't cey because he is gone but smile because he lived.

Dear Mary and Family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of loss.
I was just talking with my parents(Art & Connie Johnson) about the first time I met Bobbie. We were both at the South Haven hospital er room at the same time. I cut my wrist playing hide and seek and Bobbie had step on glass I think. That was the first time that I was also introduced to Hank and Marty. That was the beginning of a friendship I will never forget. I know Bobbie will be missed by all.

Compton Family (especially my old buddies Henry and Stan),

My heart goes out to you in these sad circumstances.

My memories of Bobby are of teenaged years (maybe a little into our early twenties). He was a younger brother character to me. I will always remember his ready smile, bone-chunking hug (most times he twirled me off my feet), and his irreverent, but funny, oberservations on people and life. He could make anyone laugh out loud, and he was always ready for a little mischief. One night, Bobby, Stan,and I decided to smoke some cheapo cigars to see who could create the best smoke rings. Of course, Bobby won. Stan quit, and I think I turned quite green with the effort.

I didn't know the adult Bobby, but I will always cherish the long-ago days in which his grin was of a part of my memories of growing up in South Haven.

My thoughts and prayers are with you. We are better from having had Bobby in our lives.

Mary - Nicole - Scott - Adam : so very very sorry for this monumental loss.

My brothers and I learned / benefited a great deal from being around Bob from time to time as we grew up. Bob made a point of knowing you. Really knowing you. Bob listened. He invested in other people. He put it all on the table. No holding back. No hesitation. Bob believed in you.

Sure, all of us will remember that powerfully genuine Bobby Compton smile; but, deeper than that, we will all treasure the way he selflessly made us feel better about ourselves.

We are so saddened to hear of the death of Bobby;do know your husband, dad, brother, uncle, cousin, buddy was one of the friendliest people we’ve met. It didn’t matter where our paths crossed; Julia’s for coffee, the Wellness Center, a party, at the beach, or even a wine fest, Bobby always had a hug and a fun story to share. He played hard; he lived life to the fullest. Bobby’s smile and tanned handsome face will not be forgotten!

Dear Mary and Family,
You have no idea how badly I feel for your loss but especially the fact that I didn't know about it until I read about it in the So Ha paper today!!! I can't believe that someone I knew didn't inform me. I was so happy to see you at the AL-Van shop just last week and I had no idea that Bobby had had a fall prior to all this. I only remember telling you that I had seen him pass by in his "special" car. Not knowing what had happened, I did call Peggy today and she filled me in on what had gone on before his death. PLEASE KNOW THAT I WOULD HAVE BEEN AT HIS SERVICE HAD I KNOW ABOUT IT AND I AM SO SORRY THAT I MISSED IT! Please know that I am here for you and that I am so grateful that AL-Van was mentioned as a recepient of contributions. I shall give $100 in Bobby's name as a rememberance. Once again, I am so-so sorry for your loss.

My deepest condolences, but we can all be a little jealous, (he is with "mom" now!)
Nancy, Susie and Peggy- Remember all those hours we spent at SHCH together?
This brings back a flood of memories and that same heartache. Where ever you are in the world, know that here is the biggest hug and a good cry from me. I am in NM taking care of the Indians now but I never forget about my "family" in SH. I will stare at the moon and say a prayer for you tonight that your heart will be comforted. Love, ~Gordo RN
