Philip G.'s Obituary
Philip G. Freeman, 92, of South Haven died Tuesday, June 23 at his home.
He was born March 6, 1917 in Chicago, Illinois to Harry D. and Helen M. (DeSwarte) Freeman. Philip was a Boy Scout achieving the highest designation of Eagle Scout. Philip served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Philip worked as a salesperson for Corley-Miller Wrapping Machine Company for 25 years. Philip also owned and operated Hobart Dealership in Kalamazoo for many years until he retired in 1986. Philip was a member of the First Baptist Church in South Haven where he served on many church boards.
He is preceded in death along with his parents by his first wife – Theresa E. Freeman who died in 1969 and his 2nd wife – Georgia K. Freeman in 2007.
He is survived by his son – Phil Freeman of South Haven, Michigan and daughter – Sue (Jim) Baar of Holland, Michigan. Six grandchildren – Mike, Mark and Terry Freeman, Kent, Drew and Tori Baar. Two great grand children - Cheyenne and Malina Freeman. He is also remembered by a very special friend and dance partner, Vonnie Russin.
Visitation will be Friday, June 26 from 6 – 8 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Jerry Koller and Pastor James Baar officiating. Burial will take place prior to the services at Lakeview Cemetery, South Haven. Memorial contributions can be made to the First Baptist Church or South Haven’s Hospice at Home.
