Dorothy's Obituary
Dorothy Martha Hodge, 77, of South Haven died Monday, September 29 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph, Michigan.
She was born August 14, 1931 in South Haven, Michigan to Alex and Lottie Mady (Pluciniki) Kaminski. Dorothy graduated from South Haven High School in 1949. Dorothy married Cecil Hodge Jr. on April 21, 1951 in South Haven, Michigan. Dorothy worked in the office for Michigan Gas Utilities. She also worked for South Haven Public Schools as a cafeteria worker and bus driver for 13 years. Dorothy was a member of St. Basil Catholic Church. Dorothy enjoyed having lunch with her classmates, Sunday rides with family reading and traveling.
She is preceded in death along with her parents by her husband Cecil Hodge Jr. who died in 1988.
She is survived by her children – Debra Hodge of Muskegon, Michigan, Vickie (Doug) Monacelli, Cecil Hodge III, Peggy Hodge, Lisa (Scott) Sollman all of South Haven, Michigan, and John (Virginia) Hodge of San Francisco, California. 6 grandchildren – Paul (Megan) Monacelli, Jennifer Monacelli, Cecil Hodge IV, Aaron Sollman, Steven Sollman and Megan Sollman. Three sisters – Helen Raczynski, Eleanor Capps, and Virginia Moore all of South Haven, Michigan. Sister-in-Law – Bernadine Rutgers of Kalamazoo, Michigan. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 2 from 5 – 8 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home with a Scripture Service at 7:30 P.M. Funeral Mass will be Friday at 11:00 A.M. at St. Basil Catholic Church with Rev. Father Robert Flickinger officiating. Burial will take place at Lakeview Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or to St. Basil Educational Endowment Fund.
