I played hockey with Tom a few times, what a great player. Too bad we played Sunday's when he was always too busy at the restaurant. I'll miss him stopping in to Captain Nemo's (my place) to say hi. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. The Rusin's

My first job ever was at the North Beach Inn and I worked there for 7 seasons. I made some of my fondest memories there. Tom was a dedicated and talented man with a good heart. I always secretly held out hope that I'd be able to dine with my family at another one of his restaurants. It's sad to know that won't be a possibility now. He will be missed by myself and all of my family.

Denise, I am so sorry for your loss. Tom was such a friendly fun loving person. Someone who never met a stranger. I will never forget how we met-he turned in front of me carrying a hugh loaf of French bread riding his bike coming from the bakery and I almost hit him. He tracked me down at the Idler where I worked to apologize. A friend was made. Keep all the good times in your mind & heart and he will be with you always. My thoughts and prayers are with you & your family.

Denise, Thomas, Graham, Christina, Mrs. Pigozzi and family: I am so sorry to hear of Tom's passing. He was such a great guy! I babysat the kids, and worked at the Inn for many seasons and those were some of the best times I've had...it was like a great big family over there. It's like closing out an era (way too soon). He will be greatly missed. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Please accept our deepest sympathy in the loss of your loved one and a friend to all that knew Tom. Over the years, he has given so much of himself to our community. I was so sorry to hear of Tom's sudden death. I was his bead-making buddy. Tom was good enough to let me sell my beaded jewelry in front of the inn every summer Sunday for about 7 years. He'd always threaten me every spring, telling me he'd given my space away to a lady who painted Elvis pictures on velvet. I cared a lot for Tom and will miss him very much. Please except my sympathy.

To the Pigozzi family: I can't tell you how many breakfasts or dinners were eatten at Tom's restaurant or how many nights Tom would join us for a beer at Three Pelican's. I relocated several years ago to the South and have missed those great South Haven summers and the friendship of the Pigozzi's. I remember when the babies were all in highchairs and now they're young adults themselves. I'm so sorry about Tom, my deepest condolences are with his family.

To the Pigozzi Family- We are beside ourselves, over the loss of Tom. We used to come to the restaurant every week , for our Sunday dinner, and in the off season, on Saturday nights. Tom always made us feel like family, and became a great friend! We particularly enjoyed when he had a chance to sit down and join us, when he wasn't too busy. We have lots of good "Tom Stories", but here's our favorite-------a few years back, it was my birthday (Andrea), and when my husband asked what I wanted to do for it, I told him all I wanted was my favorite dish (Capellini Sun Lucci), at Pigozzi's. So he told me to call the restaurant, and see how busy it was. When I called, Tom answered the phone, and informed me they were closed that evening. I told him it was my birthday, and all day I had looked forward to coming there for dinner, and that I was so disapointed. He paused for a minute, and said "Oh Heck, I don't have a whole lot going on tonight anyway---come on down and I'll cook dinner!" We drove down there, and Tom put on some Sinatra, and cooked us dinner--it was one of my best birthdays ever! What a guy! We'll truly miss him, and feel so lucky to have known him! Please know our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Tom u-u-u-u-u-h-h-h-h-h. You just gotta love that man! His spirit will live on in all that knew him. What a character! A talented one at that. His talents live on through his children. Talk about talented! I worked for him at his restaurant for many years. He was such a hard worker with a very kind heart, always with a smile or a laugh. I know he's smiling on us all now. He's touched so many lives in so many different ways. My deepest sympathies to his family, he loves you all so much. I treasure my friendship with him and his family. You're in my thoughts and my heart.

Like so many others who were drawn to Tom by his charisma and warmth, I am deeply grieved by his unexpected death. I feel privileged to have counted Tom as an employer and friend. I extend my condolences to the family and my prayers are with you. In the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, death has been swallowed up in victory. Therefore, we have assurance that will continue to give us strength to endure all grief and sorrow. Confidently, we can say, “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?… But thanks be to God! He gives us victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1Cor 15:55-57 Sakita Taylor & Family

Dear Denise, Thomas, Graham, Christina, Mrs. Pigozzi and Family; I (Kate) met Tom first as my "new boss" at the "Pancake House". I was immediately struck by his handsome smile, of course, and the fact that he looked much too young to be my boss. With Tom came many changes, new name, great new food, dinners even... no red checked hats... :) - and great music! Tom was uniquely funny - creative - - and wow - quick... He was also a hard-working, generous, kind and fair person. Later, I had to get a "real job", but we had sons the same age - Thomas and Seth. Our paths crossed as parents many times over the years. It was always fun to see that great smile, hear some stories, and catch up. Tom was the cub scout leader for our sons. I know Seth has many happy memories from those times and his friendship with young Thomas continues as they enter young adulthood. As a family, we are all far beyond sorry about Tom's sudden passing; he was much too young for that, too... We will miss him. You all have our deepest heartfelt sympathy, along with with our sincere thoughts and prayers.

I had the privilege to work with Tom for a couple seasons back in the early nineties. The North Beach Inn/Pigozzi’s will always have a special place in my heart. Every time I hear Van Morrison’s “Moondance”, I think about the restaurant and the wonderful friends I made there. I was saddened and shocked to hear of Tom's passing. He was a great guy to work for and he will surely be missed.

Tom Pigozzi was a warm, funny, wonderful person, a great boss, and a it was genuinely FUN to work for him. He made everyone he met feel like family, and we all loved him for that. I'll always remember him dancing around the restaurant after closing singing Frank Sinatra or Tony Bennett with a big grin... He will truly be missed!

It was a pleasure to work with Tom at the Perch. The menu was not his forte and his sense of humor made it soooo much more fun! We talked about our kids and plans...he wanted to go up and work on Mackinac Island and I had stories to share about my summers on the Island. He had the greatest bike...a real Mackinac bike! I am glad I got to know him if only for a short time. What a great smile.... Rachael and my prayers are with the Pigozzi family.

My sibilings and I worked at the resturant for several seasons and we were lucky to know Tom and his family. I will always remember Tom for his great laugh, hilarious idiosyncrasies and generosity of spirit. No matter how chaotic and busy a particular night could be at the resturant, Tom always managed to make the shift a fun experience. His family and friends are in my prayers. Tom you will be missed.

I had the true pleasure of working for Tom & family during the summer/fall of 2002. I was so saddened to learn of Tom’s passing, while at the same time overcome with such great memories from time spent with a true renaissance man. My deepest sympathies go out to Tom’s family and friends (and that’s basically everyone that ever had the opportunity of meeting Tom).

I had the opportunity to work for Tom and Denise at the North Beach Inn for a summer, now 13 years ago. I so enjoyed getting to know them and being a part of their wonderful business, and even babysitting for Thomas, Graham and Christina. Long after I moved away, my grandmother and Aunt visited frequently, always with high praise for the food, place, and people. My sincerest condolences on your loss; my thoughts and prayers are with your family.

Tom was found in the river dead.. It seems now someone stalked him hit him in the head and threw him in. The medical examiner experts were suspicious back then....now someone has confessed that they knew who did it. Someone who had been stalking him was seen in the same place as Tom right before it happened
